Aftermarket HU disables keyless entry etc?

I have a 98' Acura 2.3CL that I just ordered a new head unit for. I have heard that removing the stock head unit will cause the keyless entry and perhaps other things to stop working. I simply need to know if this is true and what I can do to keep everything working right. Thanks a lot in advance.

Only things that wont work are the steering wheel controlls- but you can get an adaptor to make them work if you want to keep them.

The reason I ask is because my friend has a 98 Civic EX and he got a new HU a while ago. He got his professionally installed and they asked him if he wanted to keep his keyless entry working for an extra 50 bucks install charge. He said no, and ever since his keyless hasnt worked.

Are you guys absolutely sure it will still work? I really like my remote

Went to a local store today, and the salesman told me that their were two models of the Civic that had problems with the keyless entry when the HU was taken out. He said my car should be fine. Thanks for the help guys.

Some civics have that problem, in that case, they should have buried the stock unit behind the dash and just hooked up the new one. Sadly your friend got the headunit installed by a professional idiot. Any installer shoud have known that, especially since it was a civic.

It's not a problem with our cars.
