Aftermarket Headunit Installation

I've been looking at installing an aftermarket headunit in my '00 TL. I've seen instructions for removing the factory stereo. My question, however, is about wiring the new stereo.

I know that I'll need the usual parts - wiring harness, dash kit, etc. I've been reading about wiring issues. Should I have any trouble if I use the general guides in the DIY sticky? I mean, when I install an aftermarket stereo, should I know about any common issues, or should wiring it up as per the instructions yield success?

I don't have too much free time on my hands. I just don't want to get into it when I get the stereo and parts, and come across a bunch of issues. If I know of any common troubles ahead of time, I can be better prepared and allot the necessary amount of time.
