Ok, this is probably really dumb, but here it goes. I installed an after market HU and wired it up for everything to be working great, except one issue:

The dimmer adjustment no longer works. The harness for the TL has a wire for illumination and dimmer, but my aftermarket HU doesn't have a dimmer wire. I don't care if I can't dim the HU, but I want my dash to dim and it no longer does.

Can anyone help?

Did you buy a harness for the new deck? If not, then maybe that should have been the better route. Otherwise I have no idea.

 

I just have the harness that came with the deck and bought a harness for the car. Wired the harness that I bought for the car to the harness for the deck...the other end just plugged into the car's internal wires. Make sense?

I didn't know you could buy harnesses specific to car models and HU models.
