Adding Satelite to my TSX

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I just got my car and could use some advice!

I want to add XM or Sirius to my O.E. system. I have the navi radio and it has a button for an "AUX" source. What connects to that input, how does it connect, (i.e. DIN Plug, RCA's, etc.) ?

Obviously this would be the prefered method to connect the satelite tuner as opposed to fm modulation or cassette adapter(n/a!)

I was thinking of using the XM Commander product since it is small, cheap and has RCA outs. Has anyone used this set-up in their Navi car? What does it take to make the connection to the OE head unit?

The OE XM solution from Honda looks very well engineered but costs over $700.00 :'(
Has anyone used it? Is it worth the $$?

Thank you for your assistance!!

'04 TSX 6sp Navi MSM/QT....Love it!!

I would just suggest getting a portable mp3 player with a SNHOND3 Aux-in connection because you get to choose the songs you want to listen to rather than having the radio station decide for you, however that is just my opinion. I am not a huge fan of satellite radio. A lot of my friends have it and I am very glad that i decided to purchase an ipod instead.

just my 2 cents

There are a number of threads discussing how to add this and how to deal with any issues. The search function works well for finding them.

The OE add-on is FM modulated, and does not use the AUX input. There's lots of info already here - just scroll down the list under Audio and Electronics. But don't buy the OE system.

(Like check out the sticky at the top of the Audio and ELectronics page for starts: )

I have the commander installed but I dont have navigation. There is a good install thread with pictures and everything. There is a slight difference in the nav install, but the thread points that out. Now as far as the comment about getting an Ipod instead of sattelite. 1- once you install the snhond3 you can connect anything you want. 2 - I have had xm for about a month now. I have not listened to a CD or FM radio since. Thats how much I enjoy it. And the sound quality is amazing.

i got the xm commander and the snhond3 so i can use the cd/aux button for direct audio input... the commander display was put in place of the "not an ashtray" unit... i had somebody on the board here do the fiberglass modification... i of course lost my cigarrette adapter..but not a big deal to me...

if you want pics let me know... i have also posted it on here before... i just dont remember where... well worth it..

oh yes, the antenna is run under the floor panels to the back deck and is attached (it is magnetic) to the key hole for opening the seats 60/40

and you don't lose signal very often with it being on the back deck? Have you ever driven in an area without terrestrial backup signal coverage?

Cool. I'm about to install my XM Commander this weekend in my navi tsx. i think i've decided to install the antenna on the back deck then but i am still debating about the control unit (in the not an ashtray area or in the sunglasses holder)
