Hi new to the forum here. I just became the proud owner of a 99 Cl. One of the first things I noticed is that I need to work on the sound system. It's pretty weak, the highs are dull, and the bass is not rich deep sounding. I had read that the factory radio is Bose and that it's got a power amp. I looked in the trunk and could not find any power amp. My question is, so that I know what's missing. What does a 99 CL sound systme consist of? as far as front, rear and subs if any. Thanks

 

6.5" front 6x9 rear. If it's a bose it's around the jack . No sub u should have been able to tell this. If's it's a bose it will say bose on the radio if the stock is in place. Your complaining about a 12 year old car sound system? Come on man what u expect. Are you new to audio or know what your doing(no offense but i imagine your new to audio).

 

If you've looked in the trunk, and didn't find an amp, then you don't have BOSE. This is a good thing, imo, because the bose system is more of a pain to work around than anything. OP, you should have 2 6.5's in the doors, 2 tweeters up on top of the dash (right next to the windshield) and then 2 6x9's in the rear deck. If you want a better sounding setup, your best bet is a set of components and an amp. Put the 6.5's in the doors and the tweeters up high somewhere (fourthmeal can help you out with this, depending on which components you buy). I'd also put a couple infinite baffle 8s in the rear deck (again, fourthmeal will be a huge help in finding the right subwoofers for this type of setup) and seal off the back of the seat with a board that you can mount a 4 channel amp on. Done. Nice little SQ-ish system.

 

It will be by the jack, under the carpet, if you do have an amp. Also your head unit will say Bose on it. Frankly if you're looking to upgrade, you're better off without the bose amp
