97 CL Bose - other ways to keep those crappy speakers

hey there im pretty n00b status with car audio so please bare with me.. i did some mild searching and didnt really see waht i wanna figure out..

so i have a 97 CL bose system.. ive already replaced the bose head unit once.. i just wanna basiclly add a sub/amp/hu to the system i dont really wanna spend alotta $.. and i dont wanna bypass the bose amp or w/e. Ive been told the reason bose speakers dont work with newer head units is because they are 2 ohm. I was also told that i can wire up a 2 ohm capable amp to a new hu and make the speakers work perfectly fine. While working on my friends computer @ his gas station i found a 150watt 2 ohn stable car audio amp he used to use laying around in the office... he let me take it.. what i want to do is: get a simple alpine head unit, and wire up this amp to the bose speakers.. get another amp for the sub and power it with that.. is this possible? if so, how? if not,

thanks for any help here fellas,

- steve

GM Bose speakers are 2 ohm. Acura CL Bose speakers are not.

If you're asking how to add a sub and amp to the OEM system, that's been done plenty of times and shouled be described in the Master DIY sticky at the top of the forum list.

If you're asking how to replace the head unit and keep the Bose system, that should be in there too.

If you're asking why on earth you should want to keep 9-year-old speakers... oh, you WEREN'T asking that... but you SHOULD be.

just wire the speakers to your new head unit by bypassing the bose amp in the trunk
