6x9 install question - noobie
hey guys,
i have quick question....i installed a pair of new infinity reference series 6x9's in my car, during the install process i cut the adapter that fit the stock speakers then i attached the female spade connectors. Then i didnt pay attention to which wire went to which connector on the new 6x9s?????
i didnt know there was a difference until my buddy asked me about a wiring diagram and positive and negatives ....d-oh
so at the end of the day, it sounds good but im not sure if i connected the wires properly....could i be losing sound quality/levels? or is it not a big deal? also is the bigger connector on the 6x9's suppose to the "positive" terminal?
hope some of this made sense.......

just switch the wires on them and see if you can tell the difference. You might be running them "out of phase". If they sound good the way they are then maybe you got lucky and connected them correctly to begin with.
Oh, just replaced the rear 6x9s on my wifes Civic and the connectors were big(+), little(-), and the speaker wires from the head unit were yellow stripe(+), white stripe(-). Hope this helps.

If you have them installed wrong your speakers will sound like crap when the bass hits. If it sounds worse than the stocks, then you have them hooked up wrong. If it sounds as good or better, you got lucky and hooked them up right. Here how I did it before looking at the wiring diagram. Put the stock plug back on the stock speaker and make sure the wire is hooked up to the same side on the new speaker. (ex: if the blue wire is connected to the right side of the stock speaker, connect the blue wire to the rightside of the new speaker.) You should have a little wire left on the plug.
