Suggestion:
Replace the Infinity's. They are awesome speakers, but I believe that there is a defect in the design. I have the new kappa's all the way around in my Legend. 6.5 components up front, and 6x9 2-ways in the back. About a month ago while I was washing the car. I turned up the radio ( all aftermaket ) so that I could hear it from the outside while I washed the car. About 30 seconds into a song, I started smelling smoke. The tweeters in the 6x9 had overheated and started smoking. I ended up frying them completely, plus one of the component tweeters aren't working. I was very suprised cause I have never had any trouble out of Infinitys. One complaint I do have though is how they built the caskets on the new kappa's. They are ridiculously huge. My 6x9's don't fit in the factory housings. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the baskets. What I would suggest is getting dremel or similar tool and cut off the excess plastic around the baskets. And if that doesn't work, and you really want some quality sound, I'd recommend MB Quart.

How high up would the speaker have to sit so it doesn't hit the torsion bar? 1" ???
My suggestion is:
1) Take the speakers out
2) Put the torsion bars back in
3) Mount the speakers and determine how much higher the speaker would have to be mounted so it doesn't hit the torsion bars
4) Build some MDF trim rings thick enough so the speakers can sit without touching the torsion bars.
Here's a pic of my front door. Ron (StreetEffectz) had to build some MDF trim pieces so they would fit. Same concept.

i put in Diamond Audio M391i 6x9's and they fit perfectly. no spacer and it clears the bars. it might just BARELY touch the rubber coating around the magnet, but its not noticeable.

I had tried the new Kappas and they fit sorta. I had to cut all the extra plastic out of the speaker grills and it still didnt sit all nice in there. I didnt keep them...I went with some 6 1/2 in the back with some wood cut to a 6x9 size so it would fit nicely.
