6 DISC Player will not play burned CDs
I used to own an '02 TLS that would play burned cds. My new TSX does not. Is there a new security standard for new cd players that identifies copied cds and ejects them automatically? anyone else having the same problem?
any info would be appreciated before i take this car back to the dealership and ask them what's going on.
thanks in advance.

No, there is no "security standard". Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by incompetence.
Try CD's burned on another machine.
(PS: Didn't mean YOUR incompetence, but the manufacturers... sorry about the lack of clarity.)

1. Try to avoid "silver/silver" discs (often the cheapest). The laser burns thru the clear plastic on the underside OK, but a s/s disk doesn't have any protection for the one metallic layer. Slightly above the cheapest are Taiyo Yuden, etc., which almost always have a matte or opaque finish surface adhering to the silver on the top.
2. When you burn an audio CD-R in a program like Nero, crank down the burn speed. So if your burner's capable of 52x, then 16x is the max you should be using. If you're getting more than 1 in 20 coasters, then reduce burning speed even more.

No Problem here - Even works on RW's
No problem here. All my computer burned CDs worked. I even discovered (to my Joy!) that it plays CD's burned using RW media, which will save me a bunch of CDs now. I can burn MP3's to CD, then erase and reuse, since I didn't get the MP3 option (had to have Cassette ;})
You might want to ensure your CD's a "Session Closed". Some players can't handle open session.
Also, because of noise issues, I never burn above 12X.

I haven't had any problems with my CD player not playing burned CD's. I stick with Imation and Sony blank CD's because I've never had any problems with them on any CD player (even my old 11 year old stereo) Also, I max out my burn speed at 21X

I've played a lot of burned CDs in mine without problem. As was suggested above, try burning at a slower speed (16x) and try using a different brand of cd-r. I used Memorex before and now use TDK and all my burned CDs work flawlessly.

Suggestions..get another burner and/or media (read: not cheap / no brand). Some of them here are same as above, but they are important
Reduce speed to no more than 16x. Music CDs has a primitive form of error correction compared to data discs...comparing a "My data CDs are fine at 52x" to "My tsx won't read my 52x burnt music CD" is like comparing apples to oranges. There are exceptions to this rule (some burners/media combination yeild good results even at higher speeds), but try that before investing on new media/hardware
and oh..there is no such thing as a multi-session music CD

I have had a problem with this recently as well. I seem to have fixed it by recording in "track-by-track" mode all at once rather than "disk-at-once". Don't know why, and I'm not sure it's a permanent fix since it's a different burner than I used to use.
