2ohms or 4ohms???

hey guys, i'm planning to put a single 12" sub in my TSX, i'm going with the new Alpine Type-R's. don't know if i should go with 2ohms or 4ohms.

i'm planning to hook it up to a 4 channel amp to run the 2 fronts and the sub, run the rear doors off the stock amp, and disconnect the rear 6x9s.
eventually down the road when i save some more loot i'll be getting a mono block to run the sub and hook the 4 channel amp to the front and rears.

i know for the time being it will work with 4ohms bridged, but when i get the mono block later on, i notice that they push more power at 2ohms.

any comments or suggestions will be great thnx.

That all depends on the amplifier you are purchasing and what they are able to run at.

Honestly, sir, I would suggest a different sub. Alpine does well in many categories, but subs are probably their least competitive product line. Lot of choices in that sector...

Good deal or not, I'd get a different sub.

I second a different sub. You cant go wrong with JL or Image Dynamics. You also might find a 300 watt system kinda weak. Just my opinion though

i hear its not too good to go to 2ohms. yeah it will pound more but its taking more power to and it can really push the amp, especially if its not a good one they can get pretty hot...
i just asked my dealer about this today b/c i am getting some subs/amp in my car, i just posted. im looking at JL stuff. look for my post

well the new type Rs are 500rms. i already know that they are not the best subs, thats the best brand they carry in my friends shop and they're giving me the best deal out there. almost $400 off the best quotes i could find. for the money i can't go wrong.

stuff cost alot here in canada.

Its only not good if you amp isn't two ohm stable. If it is, there is no problem.
