2006 Navi issue

Hello fellow Acura owners.

Since the hour change have had an issue with my navigation, dont know if the hour change is a coincidence or not.

The sytem rebooted itself once and asks for the navigation code. Unfortunately the touch screen does not allow me to select any keys on it. Thought of using the voice control but that does not work either. Then the system reboots itself to the default acura navigation screen and the process repeats itself throughout the ride. Very annoying!

I did some research and noticed others have had similar problems. 1 idea was to remove it myself and ship to Alpine to fix it but my navi system is a Pioneer.

I'm thinking maybe my dvd disc needs replacing I wanted an updated version but its very costly and it doesnt guarantee my problem to be fixed.

I'm really hoping to fix it myself instead of having to go to the dealer.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Just got back from the dealer.
They said my screen needs repair.
It will cost $500 + the parts about $650 total.
It will be shipped out and will take 8-12 weeks to be fixed.

Should I go for it?
I'm leaning towards yes.

I asked for the fun of it how much for a new Navi and they quoted me $6500!
OUCH!

Or I would look around for a used unit.

My navi was acting up awhile ago as well. This is what I did to fix it:

Take out the top cubby (just put your hands in fist, turn them, and pull out) and then replug in the navi wire. I think I remeber it was towards the top, but if I were you, just replug in all of them and you'll probably get it.

I'm not totally sure this will work, but it's worth a try if it may save you $600!! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply guys.
I have a feeling my dealer is full of shit and is just trying to screw me.

I have looked around the board as others have had similar issues and I feel its a software issue more than anything else. I ordered the newest Navi dvd as I wanted an update anyway and that will work.

Just wanted to give a quick update, I ordered the new dvd 2011 update unfortunately it did not fix my issue. My next step will be to unplug and plug the wires from my dvd reader in the back before contacting Alpine like many others on here have already done.
