2005 Honda Accord radio installation
Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket head unit into a 2005 Honda Accord with navigation in yet? A friend of mine has one, and he wants to install an Alpine CDA-9855 in the opening under the navigation screen (where the SAT receiver is in the picture).
I'm hoping someone would know of a way to use the OEM XM antenna/unit with the Alpine deck. He's already paid the year of service in advance, and doesn't want to lose the XM radio. Any help would be great!
I found this picture of an Acura OEM setup, andmy friend's 2005 Accord coupe is VERY similar to this one.

im not to familiar with this, but the Accord Setup and the TSX setup seem to be similar. I know a few people have bought some sort of bracked that enables them to put the headunit down there. I think that if you put the stock HU in the AUX of the Alpine HU that should work, but I don't know for sure, amaybe some TSX'ers can chime in

You would lose all your voice activation if you change the HU! But if you are just adding the Alpine in to the storage area you can run the output of the Alpine to the XM input on the HU. Then you would need to do 1 of 2 things. You either need a Soundgate Aux3 so you can switch between XM and the Alpine HU, or if your Alpine has an Aux input you can just run your xm in to the Alpine and use the Alpine as the switch and run the output of the Alpine to the OEM HU XM in. BTW----Why do you want to switch the HU already? It's a great HU.
