2004 Navi Screen Question

Picked up an 04 Tl with no navi.
To be honest I could care less about the navi since I have a portable one anyway. I just wanted to have the screen for when my kids are in the car to watch movies.
The question is, if I were to buy just the screen and dvd player or screen and put on an aftermarket dvd payer, would it work?
Has anyone doe this mod?

Thanks

No it won't work, you'll need a converting device to transmit the audio and video to the navigation screen. You can get one from (TVNav2go plug n play unit) just google it and it'll lead you in the right direction.

^ Thanks for the info...
Another Audio question is, is it possible for the speakers to still pump out sounds even if the factory amp is blown? reason I ask is that I havent got any sounds coming from the sub but the rest of the speakers are all working.

Thanks

McMel... With that can you watch while driving? I know I had an aftermarket one in my Infiniti and it was set to only play when the E-brake was on. It was a PIA to fumble with the wires to change it.
