Question 2001 6-cd into a 2000

reading lots about 2001/2/3 6-cd direct bolt into my 2000 and I'm weighing the pros and cons.

I can pickup 2001 6-cd from e-bay for about $150 but they say I have to contact the dealer for the anti-theft code. Anyone ever did that?

I can pickup a Sony 10-cd MP3 for about $100 but then can't control from the hu.

Is there power already in the trunk for the factory changer?

Thanks

I've got an Alpine CD changer with the adapter that I might be willing to sell to you. You'd be able to work it with your stock HU.

I was looking at:

Alpine CHA-S634 6 Disc CD CHANGER/MP3 $240

Blitzsafe HON/ALP DMX V.1D Dual Purpose $129

But once you include shipping and customs to Canada it's going over $500. I'd be looking at a better hu at that point but that's too messy for me.

I like the idea of the Factory 01/02/03 hu if it's a direct bolt in. It's clean and cheap but I'm worried about the anti theft code. My local dealer isn't the warmest.

Another question is do I have to worry about the navigational. I don't have the navigation system so can I only use hu from tl's without nav?

I put a brand new 03 Head Unit in my 99 TL. I like to keep things stock, and I absolutley love it. Its so much more convienient than the single disc, or the 6 disc in the trunk... etc. I wouldn't EVER change it now!!!!!!!

6 Disc indash HU are from the 02-03 TLs, 99-01 TL had the one disc HU.

Make sure to buy the TL HU, CL 01-03 HU looks like the 02-03 TL's HU but they do not work in 99-01 TL.

Does if matter if the 02-03 comes from a tl with nav or not. I don't have nav.

Is the trunk pre-wired for cd changer?

No power wire is needed. It gets it's power from the cable that connects to the back of the head unit.
