1" Spacer ok?? Speaker mounting

Okay, i took apart my passenger side door panel last night. I measure just a hair under 1.75" before hitting the window. This added to the size of the stock spacer of .75" gives only a 2.5" mounting dept.

I have mdf boards that are .75" but that might not work as my speakers are 2.65" deep. I can probably use a 1" spacer if i can find a 1" mdf board at home depot.

My question is do they have these? And if i use it will my door panels go back on without having to replace the clips??

thanks..

You won't find 1" MDF at Home Depot, it's special order. What you can do, however, is route the 3/4" spacer, and then route a 1/4" piece of plastic, or a 1/4" piece of hardboard or something like that. Just make sure you adhere them together nicely to create a sealed baffle

hey guys,

thanks for the quick replies..

I just finished making a spacer from the 3/4" mdf i had lying around. And that is enough for the window to roll down.

But i made it sort of thin, and now i can't put the screws into the door panel location. So i'm going to make another one. I bought the sears "all in one cutting tool" similar to the rotozip and the freakin bit kept breaking. Now i'm going to sears to buy another one..

It took my like half an hour to cut that last half of the spacer by hand..
