04 TSX - No sound from rear doors & deck

does anyone have any ideas what might be going on with my 04 tsx, there is no sound coming from the rear doors and rear deck. i've tried all the settings on the radi0, ie. fade & balance. i've checked the connection on the speakers as well and everything is hooked up. Any ideas? i'm thinking it might be the amp. Do the rear door and rear deck speakers come off of the same channel? Any help would be appreciated.

the connectors on the back of the stock amp could be loose. OR the HU side of the cable may be loose. OR something broke... i think there is an amp IC (inside stock amp) that drives the rear door and deck speakers. I hope that's ok

Try removing and reconnecting the cable connectors at the stock amp.

The rear channel outputs of the factory HU feed the factory amp and are split inside the factory amp to provide the rear door and rear deck speaker outputs. If all your rear door speakers are out then it is the HU or amp that’s bad (or you blew all your rear speakers). Oh that’s a big help.
You first have to check the plugs at the factory amp and HU as has been suggested. If you want to look deeper the next step would be to verify the rear channel signals are present at the 14 pin amp connector. You can use a DVM set to AC volts and look for a varying voltage between pins B4 and B11 (RF) and also B6 and 13 (LF). You will have to have the HU playing and the bal and fad set to the middle and the volume up to normal level. If you get voltage then your amp is likely bad. If you don’t get any voltage it’s the HU. You should take it to a pro to confirm this before buying any replacement HW.

The pin out (photo) of the 14 pin connector is in my post https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/correct-way-bypass-tsx-audio-amp-360946/#post5283595,
Dig down you’ll find it.

jeff,

is the 14 pin connector the output from the HU, so if theres varying voltage between the pins then there is an output from the HU and i can thus presume that amp is where the problem lies. thanks for the help jeff.

Yes, the 14 pin connector is the output from the HU. If you see a varying AC voltage across each of the four output pairs then that indicates that the HU is good and the amp is bad. If you only see varying voltage on the front output pairs then it is the HU that bad.
Remember to have music playing and the bal and fade controls set to the center. The voltage level is the music level (that’s why it varies) also; you should see the same range of voltage out of the front and rear outputs. If you read a varying voltage form the front around 3 volts AC the rears should produce about the same.

Be careful not to damage the connector pins with the meter probes.

Remember that the TSX HU outputs are balanced pairs so you have to measure across the pairs and not to ground.
