MISC: 03 Toyota 4Runner Full Audio Makeover
Oops, I guess I cant PM you as there is no option to do so. (Perhaps I don't have enough posts.)
Anyway, I have a good set of 6.5 components here sitting in the box that I would like to install in the front doors. Question about the front door woofer and tweeter of the JBL system. Are these both on one amp channel with a crossover in between or are they on 2 amp channels with the amp crossing over the tweeter. ( I suspect the 6x9 is full range since you put a coaxial in there.) If there is one amp channel feeding both drivers then this would be easy for me.
Thank you and once again I appreciate this great thread.

There is a crossover in between, I used all the stock wiring and crossovers, so the full range 6x9's I put in are getting lows and mids only, the tweeters are getting all the high range,if you're doing matched components you should consider a similar approach, you can see the crossovers in the pics I posted in the begining. Cool White LED Lighting
So as promised, I did a full map, door and dome light swap to superbrightleds cool white LED bulbs. I got the 5 wide angle 194/168 wedge bulbs for the maps and doors, and the 4 LED SMD festoon cool white LED bulbs for the domes. I took plenty of pics so I hope you guys enjoy.
Here's the bulbs I used, I used 6 wedge LED bulbs and 3 festoons

Close up of bulbs

Map lights, stock bulbs

Map lights, LED bulbs

Map lights with the covers replaced

Middle Dome light before

Middle Dome light after

Pic of the rear door for the hell of it

And I replaced the rear dome light in the trunk area as well, but didn't take any pics, it was just 1 festoon bulb where the middle dome is 2, I bought 4 because I was expecting 2 in each.
Some action shots with the doors, map lights and middle dome light on

Total cost was about $30 and total install time was about 15 mins.

Thanks to 97BlackAckCL for providing me with the 6.5 adaptors. Just got my RSD65cs component set installed in my 4runner's front doors and the sound is fantastic. I bought this set a couple years ago d/t the hype on the car audio forums and never got around to installing them. I didnt expect much for $70 speakers but these are real nice.
A word about using the factory crossovers. Initially I put a pair of Kenwood 6x9's and the tweeters from the RSD set in the doors using the factory crossovers and it sounded OK. At low to mid volumes. Cranking up the juice things got a little strident and distorted. I later discovered that the factory crossover was to blame. I can't tell what the inductor value is running the 6x9 but the cap on the tweeter is 22uf. Using a crossover calculator tells me that the tweeter is crossed over between 1300-1600, 6db roll off. While the JBL cone tweeter can easily handle this low of a crossover point not many dome tweeters can, if any. Now with the component set and associated crossover in the doors the sound is gorgeous.
