'03 TL-S and CDT Audio

I'm gonig to be recieving a CDT Audio CL-61 component set for the front speakers and CDT AUdio CL-6x for the rear doors. I would like to know if anyone has these and if they had to cut the door in order for the speaker to fit or if they need a spacer and if so how big was it? Any help would eb greatly appreciated.

Also, I have the Kenwood DDX-7015 headunit... would it be ok to power those speakers from the headunit? I realize that with an amp they will sound MUCH better... but thats to come in the future. Thanks.

the stock speakers had about a 6 inch hole cut, but it was oval shaped, so if those are 6.5 inch speakers, you will have to cut the door some. Its easy though, only takes some tin snips to get it done. As far as the spacer goes Im not for sure, but you can put as big as a 1 inch one and the door panel will fit back on. Just make a ring out of some wood, put some dynamat around and behind the speaker to get the best sound.

You can power them with your HU, but that is really not a good way to go. Components need more power, I have fried many tweeters with 50 watts/speaker RMS. You will only be pushing 20 or so watts/speaker. So just make sure you dont blast them, because when you do, you will be giving the tweeters lots of distortion and you will fry them. So when you get an amp, get 75 or 100watts/speaker, then you can blast away when you want to and not worry about bad power.

yea, i figured i would need to cut some... jsut wanted to make sure so i could prepare for it. i know powering htem with the headunit isnt the best, but i only have an amp for the subwoofer for now. i will be getting a 5-channel amp in the coming weeks/months so it will be taken care of eventually.

you mean headunit, right? will it sound better than the stock bose atleast? if its gonna sound worse, i might as well leave the bose speakers in until i get my next amp then.

It will sound better than the stock unit, but it would be easier to run all the wires to your 5 channel amp from the beginning and not even use your new HU to power your speakers at all.

i dont have the 5 channel amp yet. the only amp i have is for the woofer right now. its the rockford fosgate 500s. not too sure about the specs on the amp i currently have... but im not gonna hook it up to the speakers, its strictly for the sub.

the amp im going to get is the memphis belle 16-mc1300d. it has 1 channel for the sub at 1100 watts and 4 channels for the speakers at 75watts each.
