03 tl bose system possibility

Hi everyone. my dad just got an 03 acura 3.2 TL. it do not have navigation, and have the factory bose system, wich seem to be 4 speakers and a subwoofer. I rode a couple of threads yet about this system, so here are my questions

Can the factory EQ be disabled with the use of the factory amplifier?

what kind of power does put the factory amplifier, and is it good enough to power something else than paper speakers ?

My goal would be to retain as much as the stock system as possible to keep the cost down. I saw that the factory EQ is working hard to make the factory speakers sound good, but is a problem when replacing the speakers because it boost treble a lot (and probably screw the response of any good speakers). I would like to disable it, at least for the front speakers, because I plan to replace them with a 6½ component system. The rears will remain stock (and will be only used when there's passenger back there, otherwise it screw the imaging). i would like to keep the factory amplifier, at least for a moment. I don't fear of tapping into the factory wires, if i can get my hand on the wiring diagram, and make my own interconnection

thank you very much, Nic

There is no separate factory amplifier, its built into the radio. There is a sub-amp behind the rear seat. It is a good idea to bypass the factory EQ if your adding aftermarket speakers. The problem is, that will reduce the output from the radio to something like 3-5 watts. No nearly enough to drive most quality speakers. You can add an aftermarket amp to the radio however, many have done this. Wiring diagrams should be on the forum, try a search. Otherwise, i mite have them saved on my home computer somewhere.

Is the subwoofer amp receiving it signal straigh for the deck, or from the EQ? maybe i did not played long enouh with the setting but the subwoofer did not seemed to fade?
I don't understand one part. how can the EQ would change speaker-level signal? could it be that it use the HU signal as pre-amp and have built-in amplifier?

The radio sends a pre-amp signal to the EQ, boosts signal, and sends that signal back to the radio to be amplified. Its wired in a OUT/IN loop as most EQ's are.

If EQ is bypassed is the radio's Fader control now history?

Looking at the wire dia I only see Right & Left channel input to EQ. So I assume that the Fader control is done in radio just before the input of internal amps.

goofy8,

no you don't lose the Fader control when you bypass the EQ. It must be split inside the radio before the amplifier stage as you said.

Thanks VTEC11,

Just not sure I understand you, or you didn't understand me. So here's a small recap.

Looking at the wire dia I see inputs and outputs the inputs have different names then do the outputs.

I think the ORN/B3 (left in) and BLU-GRN/B9 (right in) with Common input is this ground or an input? Or above is tied to B5/GRY for the ground? These are mark as input but I think it's input to EQ or output of radio right?

And on the other hand we have Left / Right / Sum and maybe the Comman as output given that the B5/GRY is the reference the signal path.

So you say yes ok but I don't understand what wire to what.

Sorry for all the Q's But if you got this to work would love to see what you did

goofy8,

Here's the diagram of the way I wired to bypass the EQ. I believe it was drawn up by another member on this board. Have a look.

Ok,

Some questions....

1.) this leaves out SUM output from EQ, so does this make the factory radio sound different?

2.) thinking that the EQ reamps the output when tied together does this reduce the power from the factory radio?

3.) seeing only 3 outputs how can anyone get true 4 channel from the factory radio?
