I have a 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD with the Technology Package. I’m going to be installing two 12” Alpines into the trunk with an amplifier strapped to the top of the sub box.

My question is on how I should go about dealing with the comparitively wimpy stock subwoofer that is mounted in the rear deck just below the rear window.

Should I take the wiring that goes to the stock sub and run it to my amp+Aftermarket sub setup instead? (Leaving the stock sub unwired and inactive)

I’ve seen some people on other forums say that they favor this method over trying to tap into the main stereo unit since the stock ELS sound system is already so complex and rather good other than the subwoofer department.

TL;DR: disconnect stock sub and wire to amp for aftermarket subs?
