im just curious cause i got a BALUN a long time ago from you....is there any "problems" with the one i have? Will this one have better or cleaner sound?
Just wondering if it would be worth it for me to "upgrade"
thanks

I just finished the first one and installed it in the TSX after some bench tests. I will be listening to it all this week. I hadn’t planned to do any A/B tests with the passive unit. The active unit has better specs in a lot of categories; if the better specs translate into better sound in the car is up to the listener to decide, it should.

Great Great hope your hardwork pays off...
When can you make enough baluns to start shipping, as I'm sure there's a lengthy waiting list
and a status update for the harnesses too

This is not a “for sale” posting, I will post the purchase info in the sales forum when I get some ready to sell.
Here it is,
This is an active or fully electronic interface converter for the TSX HU. It is built on a printed circuit board with all high quality audio grade components (1% metal film resistors and stuff like that). It is very wide and flat in terms of bandwidth (exceeds 100 khz) and is also very low THD. The CMRR is 90dB typical. That is a superior number for rejecting line noise, what it means is if the noise and signal are the same level when they hit the converter, the noise will be reduce 90dB relative to the signal. This is only for common mode noise the type picked up on the interconnect run.
It’s a snap to connect you just need to supply switch power from the amp turn on wire and a ground other then your power amp ground.
Notice my use of “high end” interconnects between the converter and amp? You don’t need fancy just short with a good shield.
The first 6 units will use the same type of case and connectors as the old BALUN. The next run will have a different case and possibly gold connectors. Both designs will use the same circuit.
Will it sound better then the original BALUN? Well it has much lower THD at the low end and better frequency response. That should translate into better sound but it is after all, it is audio and not everyone will hear a difference.
I think it should great but, I designed and built it so I’m bias.

Here is a shot of your PCB under construction, it won’t be long now!
The rocket scientists will notice the full ground plane; I also did a ground plan on the bottom. The resistors are 1% metal film, good low noise stuff.

I'm assuming the above is a part of the BALUN...? Oh and sorry for bombarding you with PMs and seeming impatient, lol.
But I just Couldn't wait...because of my insurance situation. Looking foward to that invoice e-mail
And a quick question...what's the difference between the harnesses you're making and this

That is the PC Board for your Interface Converter. It should be ready by Friday.
