Search Suggestion

When I search for previous threads, I generally search for a thread on a topic and then if no results are found I search for a post on that topic.

The Search function within the forum defaults to searching by post, and requires a user to go to the Advanced Search page to be able to search by thread topic only.

I think one of the main reasons so many people do NOT search is that they are inundated with results (posts, not threads) that don't seem to make a lot of sense compared to what they were searching for. If the results initially were thread TITLES that matched the search term, and then if you want to search individual posts you can go to the advanced page (or even have the selection in the drop down on the forum page!) people would do a better job of searching.

How difficult would it be to reverse this distinction?

I did some looking, and then asked the experts. Sadly, this is not something that we're able to do at this juncture

Search button is blocked by damn pesky animated google ads. The drop down is behind the ad.

Strange. I have never had a problem with the ads blocking the search button, at least when I am signed in.

Maybe it is because I use Google Chrome?

i had started a thread on this. this happens specially on my phone. Most of the time, not all the time.

not that its hidden, but when u hit the button, the drop down menu is whats behind the ad. The ad basically overlaps it.

here's the thread:
