How about PCH near Newport/Corona Del Mar/HB area? I know some of you guys don't like water, but better than going up the mountains in the middle of this August heat.

is this for real? you guys have been talking about a meet since 7/10/07 and yet have decided a place and date? i am not going to go and start a new thread about a meet and be responsible, but i think for future reference the thread starter should post an exact date, time, and place so threads like this actually get somewhere.

agreed....i think the whole list of people attending is stupid too because people usually don't attend...just go if you can...set a time and date in stone...then let me know =P

2nd week of Sept it is
Date is now set: Sept 16 Sat, since everyone is mostly busy during weekday.
As for location, park is best option because it fits a lot of cars and allow us a place to sit and chill. Beach is good, but doesn't fit as many cars and people are complaining about sane and sunburn.

we had it at whittier narrows 3 months ago, i am not sure if everyone wanna go there again. It is certainly great place but people probably prefer new places more. If no one comes up with new idea by wed, then whittier narrows it is.

How about any of these parks in the Ranchos Palos Verdes area? Each of these has VERY NICE ocean view and open grass area. Pick any of the following parks and you'll find a great place for a summer close out meet.

I have not been to any but one of these parks but the ocean view is staggering. If anyone volunteers, we can go check out the rest.
Also, new school year is about to start so for a lot of students, late Sept is not the best time.

I think Sleep_DEPRIVED_Sleeper has the best idea so far, i sure love ocean view, and it will certainly makes the group picture stand out. What i am concern is the parking. How big is the parking lot?? I can go and check out the parks but it has to be weekend. If not any park in orange county are good also because it is sort of in the middle of SoCal.

I will put Craig Park as the location for now. Will wait for someone to check Ranchos Palos Verdes area, and decide if we want to change it. If no one volunteer, i will go this weekend.

Well, until the end of this month, i'm living near the RPV area (at home for summer). I would go check it out but i'm bias since i really like the area, that's why i asked if anyone else wants to volunteer to go.
Ironsurfer, if you go to check it out this weekend, you can call me @ 310-920-1988 and i'll go with you since i know the area.
As for the parking situation, i didn't pay attention because i usually just go there by myself to take pictures or with a friend... but according to the information on that page, there's over 100 spaces available... the question i guess is whether these spaces are together...

here is a link from yahoo maps from the 110 fwy exit to that ladera park please note that both point vicente and abalone cove are very close to ladera.

zoom in and look to the west of the highlighted route for Palos Verdes Drive East. this is a sick road. it would take us twisting up the hill then back down to the ocean side and parks.

I'm willing to organize this if it's after sept 5th-7th since i have stuff coming up on the 27th august and moving to new apt on sept 1st. After the first week of Sept i'm all set.
Like i mentioned, if someone wants to help me scout the parks, just give me a call at the number i posted.
Let's close out the summer with a nice gathering!

As for location: Ladera Park
as dt350 mentioned, we can have a drive after the meet up the nearby hill.

Someone needs to confirm about the parking lot.
IF Ladera Park fail, then Craig Park it is.
