SeattleRSX - Mt. Rainier Cruise

~* SeattleRSX CRUISE TO SUNRISE *~

July 16th - 10am - ?

Hey Acurazine! I have been able to make it to a few of your Seattle area meets and I have really enjoyed myself. SeattleRSX is hitting the mountain and the more the merrier! SeattleRSX Meet Thread

Hope you all can make it. It should be fun

It's time for another cruise!! This time we will be heading up the slopes of the Mt. Rainier foothills to the Sunrise Visitor Center. If you have never been to Sunrise then this will be a day you wont forget if you have been there then you already know exactly how great this trip will be.

So far the plan is as follows:

Staging point: Buckley or Enumclaw, WA

Start Time: As early as possible hopefully everyone can make it there at 10am. If we can leave by 10:30 then that should put us at the top right around lunch time.

There will be a $10 entrance fee for every vehicle that enters the park. That pass will be good for 7 days. For $30 you can get an annual pass.

The Fun Stuff: Definitely bring your cameras. If the weather is treating us right then you will get to see Mt. Rainier like you never have before. Not to mention the chance for great photo ops with the cars. There is a nice picnic area where we can eat lunch. At this point unless everyone decides differently Im going to say bring your own lunch. The pot luck thing is nice but someone always forgets the plates or something. Simple = Better

We can spend as much time at the top as we want. There are a few fairly short hikes that offer incredible views that cant be beat. If this sounds like fun bring at least: a water bottle, some rugged but comfortable shoes and sunscreen for you fairer folk. Otherwise you will look like this -->

The roads on the way up are fun to drive. 3 or 4 hairpin turns and lots of normal twisties.

Be advised! There are few guardrails on this road and if you get crazy and slip off the side it will take more than a tow truck to get you home.

I know some people are busy with church on Sundays. Thats why I picked Saturday the 16th. Start time is also flexible. Especially if people want to start earlier. I know its a long drive for some just to get to the staging point.

I am going to delay this meet if it looks like we will get bad weather. Not a road you want to drive in the rain not to mention there will be no view to speak of if its rainy or cloudy. I really want this to happen on a clear day. If it looks like bad weather we will push it back a week.

That sounds like a good idea. I'm down if we get some more TLers to go. Is it for acura's and honda's or is anyone able to go? If the weather is good we could get a pretty good size group. 100 cars rollin Mt. Rainier....

BAAAAH! EVERYONE is invited. I dont care what ya bring. There will be mostly RSXs but Seattle RSX is really open. Only half of us on the forum even own an RSX.

I just know that ive met some cool people at the Acurazine meets and I wanted to let you guys know about something we are organizing. You guys are MORE than welcome!

SWEET. That would be an awesome cruise. Who's RSX with the Longhorn's sticker? Who be from TEXAS?

I need to check my schedule.... But I think I might make it. The Civic would love those winding roads!!

Yeah you should definitely come along. The road is a lot more windy than it looks on the map. That is my girlfriends RSX. We moved up here from the Austin area where she graduated from UT.

Awesome!! We will be meeting in Enumclaw actually. Trying to avoid as many stoplights as possible.

I will post the address and the mapquest map of the stage point in the next few days.

It was fun! Not too many cars though. Lotsa people flaked. I guess its a long way to drive if youre from the Seattle area you have to drive like an hour or two just to get to where we staged.

I wanted to go, but ended up finishing up a fiberglass 12" sub box. I bet it was nice since the weather was beautiful.
