Sacramento Meet #5 - Saturday August 18
The next Sacramento area CL/TL meet is planned for Saturday, August 18. We are meeting at the LaBou coffee shop at 1730 Santa Clara Dr in Roseville at 9 AM. The exit off I80 is Douglas Blvd. For a map of the location click here . A few of us that live in southern Sac county and are meeting at the Elk Grove Starbucks at 8:15 AM to caravan up to Roseville.
Last month we had a record turnout (6 ) including our first TL-S (Jacobian) and Brylee's sweet black CL-S. We never got to the road trip, though.
We'll check out rides and hang out until about 10:30 or 11:00, then take off on a 1 hour road trip around the Roseville/Auburn area that Ashburner has laid out. After that it's time for lunch, and then possibly another road trip for those who haven't gotten their fill of driving.
Please post in this thread if you are planning to show up or just thinking about it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some new faces.

Hey guys. I just got my CL Type S on the 2oth of July. Put me down for a big fat MAYBE on the 18th. I am sure I would enjoy meeting fellow CL owners and checking out all the mods and watching you race. I live in the east bay and getting up there shouldn't be a problem. Just want to make sure I don't have anything else going on!! I love this site so far and I hope to learn a lot from of of you foolz!!

Well, Red Rider and I did a CAI comparsion test last night. My car has a CAI; he is planning to get one soon. We both have headers.
The idea was for both of us to punch the throttle and have the tranny automatically downshift to 2nd gear. This would get right in the RPM range where the CAI should make a difference, and eliminate any differences due to SS shifting. Then, get up enough speed to see if we could notice a difference.
So we merged onto Hwy 99 around 8 PM last night and got side-by-side at 40 MPH. Traffic was clear a half-mile in front of and behind us. We're both in D5 and at his signal he punches it; I barely hesitate before I punch the throttle in my car. We accelerate up to about 100 MPH but I never caught up to him. We repeated the process again, with the same results. He continued to lead by the same distance (1 1/2 car lengths) he got through the slightly earlier application of full throttle throughout the whole run.
Excluding the CAI, I think our cars are pretty much equal otherwise in terms of power-adding mods. So I consider the following to be possible explanations (not mutually exclusive):
1. While the CAI gives 8-10 HP on the dyno, it doesn't translate to that much improvement in actual accelleration;
2. There are other differences in our cars that are significant in terms of acceleration. The differences I am aware of are I have stock tires, Red has the Toyos. I am running the stockers at 32 PSI, he is running at 38 or 39 I believe (who has the advantage here?); I have the Comptech exhaust, he doesn't (inconsequential); I had 3/4 tank of gas and 20 lbs of cargo in the trunk, don't know what he had.
3. I have a car from the slow batch;
4. He has a car from the fast batch.
Glenn, please fill in the blanks and share your thoughts. Anyone else feel free to chime in.

Mike, well first off it was a blast to run from 40 to 105 or so !! I was surprised that the gap between us didn't close considering i don't have intake or exhaust. I was light on fuel, about 1/8 of a tank, and nothing of note in the trunk. What the stickier tires mean i don't know since we launched at 40 mph,not off the line. If anyone has input on this i'd love to hear it. We sure caught up to traffic quick though !! We need a g-tech and some wide open spaces.

I've never taken my car on the strip, but I'm planning on getting our there next week for the Wednesday night drags to check it out. I'm trying to drag...(pun intended) one of our other locals out with me. I think Norcal CL-s will be going Wednesday night as well.
I'd like to go to the Import Races on the 11th as well, Moo-mon. :p As for competition...well... I'd love to run against someone else, but I doubt I'd provide much competition. No track experience, and stock rubber...yecch! Hardly a winning combination.

there could be a lot of facters, Mike did you have your headers re-torqed? PSI? Also the driving style programming.. I'd say next time do some spirited driving maybe before you guys go toe to toe. I'd bet the outcome might change.

I got the blackwood trim kit from www.autoparts.com last Friday and installed it Friday night. I gotta tell you guys I really like the look. Taste is subjective, but I think it completes the look of the existing trim and really makes the interior look classier. IMO, it looks more like a luxury Acura now than an Accord. I'll bet a round of lunches at Mel's (there I go again! ) that at least one of ya likes it enough to get it for your own cars before too long.
Other than that I'm itching to get the Comptech springs. I think I'll have them installed at Niello when I'm ready for my 15k service...probably some time in September. And Glenn, if you're getting the CAI...damn...I better get my headers retorqued or somethin' !!!
