Here is a rundown of what Velocity 17 has to offer,
For the Go-karts you pay a membership fee of $20, with it you get a member card with your picture and barcode that you reload for races, also a helmet sock. Every race is $18.50. So your first time expect to spend about $40. You get 6 race laps and 2 warm up laps. Before you race they give you a breifing in a room basicly telling you what all the flags mean, safety and what not. After that you go back out to the track and get ready. Put on a helmet(motorcycle style with visor) and neck brace. The track is pretty technical, but also has a nice straight with a couple banked turns to get up some speed. There are several nice passing spots in the hair pins but also in a few of the turns. This was the first go-kart track I've gone to where you have to use the brakes. Jamin on the brakes going into a turn you can lock up the rears and slide the car around with the right amount of throttle, too much you'll go spinning(easy way to pass people). Track is a bit bouncy but that adds to the fun, smooth track would be too boring IMO, nothing that throws you around terribly but you do get the feel of actually going fast. Chatting with one of the crew members they said the karts can hit about 60MPH(not bad for electric), however public races they are limited(I'd say the max you get is about 30-35MPH). He said league races will probably start in about a month and they will run the cars 100%.
Also there is a F1 simulator, I didn't do it but from the looks of it if anyone did the Nascar experience at the Palisades center, it looks pretty close to the same thing just with F1 cars. This cost about $9 for a run
They have an F-18 simulator, supposidly the same the Canadian airforce uses to train their piolts. Next time I'm there I'm definatly hitting this one up looks like fun. This was $20
Finally there is a police(or military forgot which) weapon simulator. I didn't see it simply because I didn't want to tempt myself seeing as it cost $50.
The cafe is really nice, gives you a nice view of the track.
