Cool

I vote 30th, the orginal date set by RedHotTL and TLinKC. I can bring food. I vote JCP parking lot for 2 reasons:
1. I-35 and 75th street exit makes it easy for out of towners to find.
2. Superior Acura is 1.5 block away. I'll check with OP Police to see if lawful assembly requires a permit. JCP would't give a dam*. (unless 150 of us shows up and takes the whole parking lot. Then we can always spill over to Superior Acura.)
I absolutely cannot make the 23rd. I'll still be in Akron, OH.
Finally tally?

Well, guys I won't be able to make it on the 30th. Sorry TLinKC. It was me that purpose the 23rd. I'll be in KC on the 23rd for a tournament there. Other than that, I won't be back on the 30th as I have other plans coming after that weekend as well, so traveling is a bit too much for me to handle just now. You guys have fun, and I'll be available for the next meet. Maybe you all can come to Iowa, and I'll throw the BBQ if you do so decide. Make sure you keep me posted on what is happening. Send me lots of pics. LOLz.

Have fun you guys!

daverman,

Good work dude! What sales rep did you talk to that owns a TL?

Have we decided on a location? Is it going to be JCP Outlet or mall at 119th and Roe? I'm starting to get excited about seeing everyone's ride and of course meeting all of you!

Hi everyone!

I found this thread from a post on the www.acura-cl.com board.

I have a stock (for now) '97 CL. Would it be okay if I come? I'm in NW Arkansas.

I talked with Jay Young. He's pretty enthusiastic about his ride.

Anyway, we need a point man (or woman) to talk to the OP Police and/or the Mall office to arrange the location. Better find out if we can meet before we decide, eh?

I'll also talk to Jay about the location. Maybe Superior has a better idea?

I'll take the ball on that. I'll call them tomorrow and also call JCP re: using the parking lot (if we are planning on meeting there). I still think it is easily accessible by out of towners. It is on I-35 and 75th street exit. Will update you tomorrow nite. Saturday 6/30/01 @ 1pm right??

Just to keep you guys updated. I've talked to the Superior Acura sales rep. He seems pretty positive about supporting the meet. He mentioned that he may be bringing his personal modded TL to the meet... sooo...

I mentioned food, drinks, keychains, mugs, T-shirts, caps, etc. as possible goodies to give away, as well as door prizes of more substantial value.

RedHotTL,
It took me 2hrs 15min to get up there to meet with you. It is about 200 miles from Upstream Brewery in Omaha to JCP in Overland Park. We'll see you there.

No! The JCPenney we are referring to is the JCP Outlet at 75th and I-35. Take the 75th street exit east and turn south on the frontage road. You can see the JCP outlet store from the interstate. JCP is just north of a Walmart and Superior Acura!

ALRIGHT FOLKS
good news and bad news
Good news is the OP police will not break up any lawful assembly i.e. all of us getting together. So stash your hash before coming out. We don't want any unlawful behavior.
Bad news. The store manager at JCP Mr. Jeff Shirley will not approve us using his parking lot for our gathering. What a Pr*ck. He says we can park our cars there, but no activity. So I recommend we not buy anything from JCP and I recommend a secondary location. Someone mentions a park or another parking lot. Suggestions:
1. Stoll Park 119th street and Quiviria
2. Shawnee Mission Park on 87th street and I-435
3. Parking lot on 119th street and Roe. We may run into the same 'store-owners-chasing-us-out' situation
Additional ideas on location welcome!! Bear in mind that it should be easy to get to for out-of-towners.

I'll have a look around tomorrow but I'm thinking like you that a public park would be the answer. Unless the parking lot is abandoned (read Levitz).

I like the idea of a parking lot, preferably somewhere that has gone out of business. At 95th and I-35 on the south side of the street, there use to be a HQ home improvement store, I believe that they went out of business a few years ago, and I am not sure that anyone else has moved into the building. I will drive by tomorrow and see if there is anyone using the store, and if there’s not I think it would be a good place to meet, and easy to get to for out of town people.

Drove by HQ today, and there is a lot of construction going on there, and someone is redoing the front of the store, so I guess that place is out, sorry.

Cool

Drove by LEVITZ, they fenced the whole property incl. parking lot off. There is no way you can get in. So that idea is out too.
2 additional thots.
1. 95th & Quiviria, Oak Park Mall.. Yep Wards parking lot.. totally empty and unfenced. Wards went out of business and Jones Store bought the store. Parking lot is nice and open. Drive by during shopping hours and let me know.
2. The old ElecTek on 97th & Quiviria. Some bulldozers and uneven parking surface

I recommend Oak Park Mall parking lot, North East corner where the Old Montgomery Wards sit. Ther won't be a business owner chasing you out senario. Mall Security will drive by but I'll carry a Nordstrom shopping bag & pretend I'm still shopping. What do you all think?

I agree. Let's try Oak Park Mall first, Stoll Park as a backup. Depending on how many we have, I kinda believe security is going to expel us from Oak Park but there is plenty of room there.

Just came back from Stoll Park, lots of open and empty spaces, not very crowded; very nice and clean park. Read the rules at the front entrance, shouldn't be a problem (even though the OPP garage is across the street).

Anyone else? Both locations are in the Navi.

Hmm, another possible spot... parking lot in front of BrandsMart! What about that? We get to check out the cool gear there as well.

Talked to Superior's salesman again. Looks good so far. He's backed off on the food idea, but most likely will have T-shirts and other knick-knacks to give out.

Doesn't he have to work that day? Saturday is their busiest day.
My sales person is Richard Lambrecht so is 1/2 a dozen of folks on this board that bought cars from Superior. I will check with him to see if we can get food.

Let's aim to get all the details finalized by this Friday 6/22. Is that enough advance warning for everyone?

Everyone who knows anyone in Superior, give your sales contact a call and let them know about the TL meet on June 30th. Ask them to support us with food, drinks, giveaways and door prizes, etc.

What do you think of meeting up at the BrandsMart lot?

I vote for the mall parking lot that was previously mentioned. I'm sure when security comes around we can convince them to let us stay.

But I don't have a preference myself.

One problem with a mall parking lot on a Saturday would be the local youngsters coming around trying to race us
