I'm posting to this thread to let all the participants/followers know about the available update. I will follow up in a couple of weeks to let you know if the update eliminates my reboots/lost power.
Assuming it's not free, right?

It is "on sale" for $99, rather than the "normal" price of $149.

I fell for it and bought it again, because we keep having major changes in roads in Virginia. :-)

Even if it does nothing for the NAV system itself, I'm hoping that incorporating some of the various road changes over the past year will be worth 99.00.

Maybe.

We're a little more settled in and densely populated in New England, so our roads don't change that often. But I crave more functionality improvements (speed, perhaps, or fewer restrictions on what you can see and do while the car is moving?). Let us know what you find. Thanks.

I am afraid they will never improve any of those things on the 2014 infotainment system, fsmith:-(

Afraid you're right, pgeorg, but it's spring, and hope springs eternal.

FYI, the update does NOT fix the reboots (i.e. "lost power" message).

I was hopeful, as I didn't see one for the first week or so. Then, I got 3 of them in the same day.

I'm curious.

Does he hook up his smartphone or iPod before he turns on the vehicle?

He has just regular phone (no smartphone), kinda old days that automatically connects to the car via Bluetooth at some point when gets to the car & starts the engine.

Do you think that might be a problem?

Interesting NAVI 'reboot' issue Lexus is having. This happened to a family member's Lexus yesterday. I wonder if hacker related and possible common root cause to the Acura NAVI reboots?

Hmmm... So, Acura's satellite is having issues every week then?

Not sure what your point is. I nor the article speak to weekly issues, not Acura.

What are your trying to extrapolate? If just to be clever, I do not get it.

The Lexus issue may be tied to an OTA update Lexus pushed (and apparently with no rollback capability. It does give support to DVD and flash upgrades.

We will see if Lexus' reliability ratings take a hit as Honda / Acura and other manufacturers suffered over technology complications. In the past Lexus was able to stay out of the fray of Toyota quality issues and the uncontrollable acceleration issues.
