Looking to Buy TLX - Mechanical Reliability Question
I have had an Acura TL for a number of years and have racked up 258K on it to date. I know I am posting this under the "problems & fixes" section for TLX owners, and I am really interested in replies from TLX owners as to whether certain model years are more reliable than others. I know it came out in 2015, and I am looking to buy a 2-4 year old car with ~ 35K - 60K in mileage. I would also like to know if the 4 cylinder has similar or different reliability than the 6 cylinder. Thanks in advance for any replies.

The engines are the old tried and true J series V6 and K 2.4L engines which are solid. The only concern on those is that the ones in the TLX are direct injection variants, which come with their own potential problems. Use a synthetic oil with a good vapor pressure to reduce oil evaporation, which would otherwise be pulled from the PCV back into the intake. This will reduce buildup on the intake valves. I'd also use CRC Direct Injection cleaner occasionally to maintain cleanliness of the valves. If they get gummed up, you'll be in for some serious problems.
