Agree. 2016 TLX Advance. Upgraded to iOS 11.3. Eagerly deleted phone from Acura HFL and from iPhone Bluetooth. Re-paired it and...about the first 100 contacts loaded.
Initially I thought it had to do with “My Number” but the contacts stopped in the middle of the letter “H”. And I remembered that “My Number” used to appear even before with this problem.
The next “H” contact had no photo, no emoji. Just a basic name, phone # and email addresses.
So 11.3 doesn’t fix it fully. Any ideas (other than the workaround of deleting all photos)?

In the same boat with 2017 RDX Advance. I have iPhone 8 plus and Verizon service. My contacts load up to the middle of K (many have pictures) and stops with "My Number". After adding the photos again, really don't want to have to delete them again, to regain functionality of HFL.

Unbelievable excuse from Acura svc dept
I had my 2017 RDX in for an oil change and mentioned the sync issue and that only 6 of my contacts had downloaded (none of which I use). That all my contacts used to show up, including my husband, but have now disappeared and won’t re-sync. This was before I found this forum. They came back with the excuse that the car will only hold 6 contacts and that if a new number is downloaded it’ll bump out an older one (like my husbands number). LOLOLOL where the hell do they train these idiots. I told him that was the stupidest thing I’d ever heard and while went to waiting area while they finished my oil change. Within one minute of googling “2017 Acura RDX won’t sync phone contacts” I found this forum 🙄 Now how difficult was that? Maybe Acura should train their techs to use Google?

Honda Has 200 Contact Limit in Phonebook
Honda has a 200 limit on the number of contacts it will allow in the phonebook. I made a new group called "Honda" with 200 contacts and they all load and don't disappear from the Honda phonebook. If I load 201, the 201st contact disappears.
