Has anyone tried to reset their iphone to factory settings and setup as a new phone? I don’t want to, if I don’t have to. I’m stumped that my iphone 6 has no issues on iOS 11. I’m asking again to rule it out.

Thanks !

This has to be a hardware issue with a specific iPhone version, since my iPhone 6s Plus experiences NONE of these issues running iOS 11.0.x

OR

it has to be a software/hardware issue in your version of the TLX. Mine is a 2015 SH-AWD and I updated my Navi software with the 2017 “Brown” update disks last year. I know the software beyond just the Navi database got updated.

Bottom line is my phone is fine. BT is fine. Contacts and phonebook are fine. So not sure what the issue is, but it’s not solely an iOS issue at all.

I've also updated the software on my 2015 TLX with Technology package and the phonebook is not working. I guess it is a hardware / software Issue with iPhone 7 and 8 and how iOS 11 handles bluetooth I'm sure.

I will try with an iPhone 6 later on and see how it works.

got a reply from apple

apple is blaming Acura, and Acura is blaming apple. well I guess my next car won't be an Acura and my next phone for sure won't be an iPhone, I'm sick tired of Acura and Apple.

I’m really curious to know the outcome of your iPhone 6, again my iPhone 6 is fine , my 7 isn’t . This can confirm that.

I’m scared now to upgrade to an iPhone 8 or X. 😱

Sounds like the 6 and 6s like mine are fine but the newer models have an issue.

I have an iPhone 6s Plus and a 2017 RDX with Tech Package, and I have the same error. Joined this community to see if anyone else is having the same issue. I never had the issue prior to upgrading to iOS 11.2. After upgrading, I started noticing that the caller ID doesnt show up when someone calls, and just as suspected -- it is because the phone book entries are gone. Similar issue to what has been described by the folks here. So I dont think it has anything to do with the iPhone model.

So what is the common thread for people having the issue (or not having the issue)? If I have the same phone paired to a TLX with no hint of a problem, something has to be different.

I don’t sync all my contacts, just one contacts group from iCloud. Don’t know if that ‘s the difference.

Can you please explain how you only sync "just one contacts group from iCloud" ? I only see options for "Phone Favorites", "Phone Recents", and "All Contacts".

You may be on to something...

I have my contacts that sync to iCloud and there is a group for my Outlook contacts. I can filter in the Contacts app for what I want to see there, and you can filter in the Bluetooth profile as well.

Same issue - iPhone 8

I'm so glad someone else is having this issue. I have a 2016 MDX. Everything with my iPhone has always synced perfectly. I just got the iPhone 8 and am running 11.0.3 on it. All Bluetooth stuff works great except for the phonebook. Same exact issue as everyone. When it syncs, it shows all contacts, then a minute later it only shows the first 5 contacts in "A" and "M" (for "My Number"). It's so weird. I thought it was an issue with the contacts only being available through icloud and not directly on my phone but I know that's not it. So, it's an Apple software issue, it seems. I will also file the bug with apple. Please, if anyone gets the solution. Please post!

I'd like to know if anyone that is having this problem has tried pairing their iPhone with a different make car other than Honda/Acura? I have paired my iPhone with three cars and the only one that is having this Bluetooth issue is my 2015 TLX. I spent some time on the phone with Acura and of course they pointed the finger at Apple since iOS is the only thing that has changed so there is where the problem lies. I''m not totally convinced since I don't see reports of widespread problems like this with other manufacturers and my own personal experience.

I don’t want to sound like a broken record (a vinyl disk that plays music...for those too young to remember) but I’ll again butt in and say that if you can figure out why folks like me don’t have this issue, you’ll probably solve it.

I have a 2015 TLX Tech with an iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 11.0.3 and haven’t seen any trace of this problem. Nothing changed from iOS 10.x. Why?

Could the carrier version have any bearing? Seems like for sure it's iPhone 7/8 and some 6's and all iOS 11+ I don't think the carrier's would touch any bluetooth settings, but there are some that don't have the issue.

While I don't have anything positive to report, the issue is getting noticed more at Acura. I picked up my 2018 TLX Advance yesterday, and while I was there, there were some very vocal people in Service complaining about the Handsfree Link / iOS 11 issue. Of course, service had no answers, but I'm sure they are escalating the issue back to ACURA, who I hope is working with Apple.

For what it's work, my 2018 TLX has exactly the same issues as my 2015 MDX Advance. However, since it has CarPlay, I can use that for many of the features that I can't use with HFL.

I'm hoping Apple will fix the issue with the final iOS 11.1 release (due probably on November 3, when the iPhone X ships).

That's actually a good point. If enough service dept report back to the mothership maybe Acura headquarters has contacts at Apple to work with for bug fixes. Sounds like so far it's been mainly individuals opening formal cases with Apple.

I hope so too. I have the same exact issue in my 2013 Honda Accord tech. So it ranges from at least 2013 all the way to your 2018 Acura. So this tells me it can’t be old firmware. Must be iOS 11, if it happens in new cars. Fingers crossed.

iOS 11.1 beta 4 that was released a couple of days ago does not fix the issue which is so frustrating because it is very likely that this version is the Gold Master build that will arrive on november 4th

I've found a workaround to fix the issue. First you need to stop syncing contacts on iCloud, google, or outlook erase all contacts from the iPhone, and then add all contacts manually to the iPhone without syncing contacts to iCloud, Gmail, or Outlook. It is not a fix and it is a hassle but that's the only way to get iOS 11 to work with phonebook. until apple fix the bug.

never mind my last post I think I found another workaround. It consist on deleting email and facebook info on contact information card.

I don't know why but deleting all facebook , twitter and e mail info on contact card, makes the phonebook to stay synced

maybe it is a bug related to iOS 11 Nixing Facebook and Twitter Integration

You may be on to something. Like I mentioned earlier about my old iPhone 6 working vs, my iPhone 7. My iPhone 6 syncs to google not iCloud. My iPhone 7 is strictly iCloud. I wonder ?

The issues that arose on my 2014 Acura RDX after the iOS11 update were HandFreeLink broke (couldn't connect calls) and music play via bluetooth/wireless broke. Quite frustrating esp w an upcoming planned trip. I don't mess with contacts on my car though. Temp workaround was an old school auxillary port (3.5 mm audio cable) to iPhone 7 audio jack.
Spoke to Acura Client Relations and it was advised that after any major phone software update, you should DELETE the phone from the car and not just un-pair/re-pair from iPhone. Those unfamiliar w that here's what I did to fix my TWO bluetooth issues:

From center console pushed Phone button >> Phone Setup (scroll down) >> Connection >> Delete a Phone >> should display paired iPhone, select it to be unpaired. Go back in and re add your iPhone like you did to delete it. Hope that helps someone.

Same issue. 2015 TLX (and I just bought it, man! -
)

Tried "EVERYTHING", twice. Roll back the phone's OS or wait for the Apple update. APPLE???!

Yeah... I kind of think everyone here tried the deleting and re-pairing many times before posting on this thread. Thanks for the info none the less. Every post helps!

So I followed your Advice T5620. I removed the Facebook fields in my iphone 7, I didn't want to remove the email addresses since I use those are they also in my iPhone 6 which works. I was looking for another contrast between iPhones. Photos! that's brilliant. I do have Photos in my contacts on iPhone my 7, but NOT in my 6. I'm going to give that a shot and let you know. Thanks for all your time troubleshooting. I'm sure I speak for everyone here, that it is much appreciated!

thank you. Yes i have done several tests and conclude that removing just the picture will do it is not necessary to delete the emails or other details

Ugh! I did that unfortunately. Been on a chat with Apple for an hour. They are aware of the problem. Have an appointment tomorrow night with a supervisor. I have to be where I have access to Itunes on a computer. Unfortunately they asked me to restore to an older backup and now all of my photos are back. I'm going to leave everything as is until tomorrow. I will say that Apple more helpful than Acura. I'll update if I get any results. Apparently the calls to Apple regarding this issue are helping so please reach out to them. We need a fix not a work around which forfeits features. Expensive car, expensive phone - I want all of the features advertised.

I took the time and deleted all my contact photos. It seems to have worked. I noticed in the car in phone settings, there is an option to use contact photo. I turned it off. I wonder if that would’ve worked instead of deleting the photos. Who knows. At least I have something for now.

Let us know how your call goes.
