Im a family man and my ride is our family car (no food or drinks) how does the aspec suspension ride compared to stock is it still family friendly lol

also the comptech sway bars how big of a difrence

sway bar won't affect your ride, at least not the compression and rebound (assuming your body is not rolling at the time). with the sway bar, I'd recommend going even bigger and getting the progress rear bar and put it on the stiff setting.

i put the a-spec suspension on a few weeks ago. it's definitely noticeable, but it's not unbearable. it feels like a factory sport suspension in the same nature as the german models. I think somebody on here posted previously that the biggest difference is in the rear and I think that's true. It really helps pitch and dive during acceleration and braking.

While overall ride and comfort isn't greatly sacrificed, initial turn-in and body roll during turns are vastly improved.

As between the sway bar and a-spec suspension, it's hard to say which made a bigger difference. I installed them at different times and months apart so my recollection of the change in cornering habits after doing the sway bar is foggy. I am confident saying that both (sway bar and suspension of some sort) are a must-have to control the floatiness that's present in this heavy car.

They say that the A-Spec coil-overs are the stiffest OE suspension available. >>>stiffer than base and >stiffer than TL-S.

If you've got an '08 (maybe '07 as well) Base, the difference will be greater since the new base model suspension is reported to be the softest/cushiest TL suspension ever in a 3G.

 

I'm gonna have to slightly disagree with your comment about the sway bar affecting ride quality. I too have the A-spec suspension on my TL and it rides nice, firm yet bearable. But when i later installed a Progress RSB the ride got a lot bumpier. I love the way the car handles now but the thicker sway bar causes the independant rear suspension to be less "independent". And as a result road imperfections are more easily felt. In short i recomend both but you will notice a decrease in ride quality along with your much improved handling .

 

I for one would appreciate a little more feel from a firmer suspension.

What color is the A-Spec suspension? Trying to figure out what springs I have on this TL I just bought (springs are a dark blue).

 

I'm pretty sure it is black.

 

i love the aspec suspension. it is tight, but not too rough. i think most people would not mind the ride for even long trips.

i have noticed some cars have an a-spec suspension but there may not be the a-spec BADGE on the vehicle. i bought my car and it came witht he full kit and i think it may have an a-spec suspension but i cant verfy this. i have an 05' 6MT but for a while i thought the suspension on the 6MT was just stiffer than the auto's from 04-06. do the auto's and 6MT have the same suspension from 04-06? anyway to verify the a-spec suspension on my car?

 

should be the same suspension for both stock AT and MT.

what is the gap between the body and the tire? should only be a finger or a finger and a half gap if you have the aspec springs.

 

hmmm...ill have to check it out....i know the front sits a lil higher than the rear but suspensions seems pretty tight to me. i dont have the apec steering wheel tho. thanks for the info.

 

bummer! i really like my steering wheel. it was weird to drive a loaner with the thinner stock wheel.

i thought the MT aspec suspension sat a little more equal between the front and the back...

i know the ATs have a tighter spring in the front to compensate for the heavier trans, but it is not an equal compensation so the front sits a little higher.

 

yea, the 6MT does seems to sit a little more flush than the AT TL. damn!!...how much thicker is the a-spec sterring wheel??...lol....i thought the regular steering wheel was pretty FAT...lol

 

I'm not usre they are the same. Apparently they *do* have different part numbers, but that could be a red herring.

For the OP, you can look at you shock and check the part number(s) above. They should be easy to see with the tire off. That should tell you what susp you've got. If not, you can look the part number up here:

I've got the pictures of the A-Spec shock/spring combos on my home laptop. I'll post those later so you can see what specific part numbers to look for.

 

So the first picture confirms the numbers we've all seen around here. The 6MT suspension includes the "A" at the end of the part number. Older revisions used to be 08W60-SEP-200A. I guess they are up to 08W60-SEP-201A



For the fronts, the R and L shocks are different and the individual part numbers (though hard to make out clearly) end in E1 and F1. I don't remember which side is which. Full part numbers are: 08W60-SEP-2M00-E1 and 08W60-SEP-2M00-F1




For the rears, the R and L shocks are the same and the individual part numbers (also hard to make out clearly) end in C1. Full part numbers are: 08W60-SEP-2M01-C1

no they dont...not on them....but they do have them on the websites that show u schematic break downs.
