Warning for TLX owners, Fast Co. FC04 19x8.5, 5x120, et 45 FC04A-1985-12TN+45C726

So with a lot of Canadians buying winter wheels for their new tlx’s i thought i should share this info. I purchased in October a set of Fast Co. FC04 19x8.5, 5x120, et 45 FC04A-1985-12TN+45C726 for my winter set up. They look fantastic, and really seemed to help the car A LOT because they only weigh 21 lbs. the car frlt so much more zippy and light on its feet. i was very happy with them but after barely driving the car for a week or so i noticed some vibration. I decided to retorque the nuta even though id only driven 70km And it was wayyy too much to get them to proper torque. like a 180 degree tighten on some of them. Ive never had a set of wheels back off like that so i was concerned but told myself the installer must not have torqued them down properly when mounting the tires. I then drive for another day or so and rechecked and they had backed off again! I then decided that somethings gotta be wrong and inspected the wheel nuts (yes i used the correct conical nuts for these wheels, not the radius ones that are oem). And found marking in both the nut and the lug nut holes that show the nut was barely making contact. I believe that it was either from the hole not being bored out wide enough all together, or having too much of a 90 degree space before the 60 degree contour begins causeing the nut to get caught and unable to self centre as is the engineering behind a conical nut. I believed it was probably caused by the 5x120 pattern pushing the drilled area so far out that if the 60 degree angle or the entire bore were increased further it would hit the spoke. The pics below were sent to the retailer and forwarded to fast.

I at the time believed that they had used 5x114.3 wheel and accidentally drilled 5x120, causing the issue. I informed them of the cast numbers on the wheel and that the replacement set cannot be the same cast or the same issue will happen. I then waited 3-4 weeks for the replacement wheels to arrive, and when they did… exactly the same cast, with the exact same drilling issue. Its now snowing here and im driving around on summer tires like an idiot with no forethought waiting for a different set of wheels to arrive. Very frustrated, and honestly disappointed because i thought they looked great and felt amazing because they were so light, but obviously not safe. They offer dozens of fitments so this may not be relevant if you order an 18” or even a 19” with et 35, but do not order the 19” et 45 FC04A-1985-12TN+45C726. Or you are goona be driving around like an idiot on summer tires in a snow storm as well while waiting for another set to arrive.

Good catch on the issue, seems like this slipped by their quality control. At this point, either get your money back or get a different style wheel, ideally one made in a true 5x120 pattern - the wheels you got seem like they were drilled and don’t look true as far as the bolt pattern.

That is a terrible design! You could try using some thin tuner lugnuts that sit on that area only. See pic of nuts on studs below.

Sombasol, thanks for the heads up.

Your FAST wheels seem to have multiple problems.

First, instead of casting a true 5x120 hole-pattern wheel, they decide to drill 5x120 pattern holes on a 5x114.3 hole-pattern wheel. Secondly, the 60-degree angle contour is not being drilled properly, resulting that the wheel nuts can't be screwed in flush and securely against the wheel seats.

Maybe this is why they have no US distributors.

Out of curiosity I used some CAD tracing software, scaled up based on 19" rims, and wow, way off from prescription buddy. Thanks for sharing, to save us all some headaches too.

As for the countersunk, you could use match CSK washers at the lugs to ensure proper engagement when torqued down.

These exact wheels are like the plague here in Canada. I see them everywhere. I can't go to the store without seeing a car with these wheels. My neighbor 3 doors down has them on his Infiniti. My brother even has these on his BMW. Most common wheels in Ontario for sure.

I've never heard of this company, probably because its a Canadian manufacture. Without spending a lot of time researching this company, are they reputable? Maybe try Vossen or HRE if available for purchase in your area.

They are a pretty large (for canada) player in canadas winter wheel industry, and i had never heard anything negative. These wheels specifically are very popular due to their weight and having a fitment for 98% of vehicles but fast co has several companies under there umbrella and boast the “best warrenty in Canada”. The retailer i bought them through (who has been very helpful and im not naming on purpose so no one puts any blame on them). Said they have had enormous issues with them this year specifically and are attempting to drop them as a supplier but it is difficult because they have a significant market share and offer fitments for so many vehicles.

If you have a choice say I would stay away from Replica wheels. Or at least if you are looking for replica wheels go with a know brand that makes replica wheels.

Just curious, did you use hub centric spacers for the FC04? Also, where did you get those Acura emblem on the hub centre caps? Thanks.
