Type-S Wheels

Any ideas or thoughts on if Acura will make the Type-S 20" wheels available for purchase? Depending on cost I wouldn't mind getting a set for summer tires to switch out after the winter months. I'm assuming if they were to sell them as an option they would most likely be at least 3 grand?

All parts/accessories are orderable at the Parts Counter. BUT, as you surmise, the cost will be HIGH. I'd rather buy a set of Vossen wheels, made for your car...and the HF-5 is a great wheel.
I priced with them....one of the "optional finishes" and for 20" wheels, it came to $750 each. They actually look better IMHO. And I doubt that the "factory Type S wheels would be any cheaper.
Just my best guess. And, you'd have to pay "core charges" if you are not exchanging any wheels. So, that's more cost. At least $200.

Interesting! Its been years since I bought an OEM wheel from a dealership and I don't recall paying for a core charge. The only "core charges" that I can remember paying were related to items that could be reconditioned for subsequent resale (water pumps, alternators, etc). What is the logic for the "core charges" associated to the purchase of new OEM rims. I'm not questioning the practice, just trying to better understand the "why".

Does this core charge apply only to new wheels upgraded before the car is delivered, or also to used wheels after the car has been driven on the roads ?

This makes me wonder if Acura is repairing the returned wheels and then selling them as new.

This is exactly what my question is about.

In most cases, Honda/Acura dealers only accept new unused wheels for core charges, meaning that a wheel change/upgrade (with allowed core charge) can only be made during new vehicle purchase, before the new vehicle is delivered to customers.

Once delivered, no core charge will be accepted, and the vehicle owner buys a set of new wheels plus keeping the existing set that is on the vehicle.

Do you have a part number for them? Hoping it has some detailed specs (offset specifically)
