2023 TLX Type S MPG

Hello,

I purchased a TLX Type S in March 2023. I enjoy driving it but the fuel economy is terrible. I believe it is rated 21 city/28 highway. Most of my driving has been in the city in comfort and normal settings, and I'm getting 15 mpg at best. I've put it in Sports and Sport + on several occasions and mpg is around 11 mpg or lower. I haven't put it in Sport or Sport + on the last two fill-ups. I live at high altitude (5280 ft). Any ideas why my fuel economy is so terrible?

Thanks,
Jessica

Hey, Jessica, this sub-forum is more for user tech support, access issues, etc. This thread would be better in the TLX sub-forum ....

Where in Denver are you? Do you do a lot of stop and go driving with a lot of stoplights?

I'm in SE Aurora with my '22 TLX Type S, I get 17-19 mpg in the city driving Normal mode. I only use Comfort on long highway drives and can get 21-24 mpg. I occasionally drive in Sport/Sport+, lowest I've gotten was 15 mpg.

Are you on Facebook? There is a 2021+ Acura TLX Type S Group, we also have a group chat for those of us in the Denver area.

"wilztlxs" is asking the right questions. I tend to run Sport almost all the time and have little traffic and get 15-16 mpg in my '22 Type S and not at altitude. I see 19-20 mpg on highway in Sport and/or Normal. Stop and go along with altitude is probably the reason. Glad you enjoy the car other than that.

The Type S fuel economy numbers are 19/24, not 21/28.

Correct. Only the regular AWD TLX with the turbo 4-cylinder engine gives a 21/29 city/highway number.

I don’t live in high altitude, but most of my driving is city driving, stop and go. My MPGs are similar to yours, ~15mpg in the city. This vehicle is definitely not ideal for being fuel efficient, but it’s definitely a pleasure to drive on a daily basis.
