since its my daily there has to be a limit lol. I want more power but once it gets to upgrading injectors and fuel pumps etc im stopping. my fun car (NSX) is one thing but I don't want to go too crazy on the daily. with that being said I decided im going to go with the FL5 civic type r and integra type s turbo, they both use the same turbo. its estimated I should get around 350-370whp on pump gas with that turbo.
one other change I made recently is that I traded my TLX from a '21 to '22 TLX same spec except this one has SH-AWD. I haven't had a FWD car since 2012 and I realized I hate the driving dynamics of it after driving a RWD NSX and 4WD CR-V all this time. I wasn't planning on it but I was kind of regretting the FWD but randomly I got a call from my dealership asking if I wanted to trade my car. I took that as a sign and got a good deal so I jumped on it. I absolutely love this SH-AWD, it's really fun to drive. any daily I buy from now on has to be AWD.
as of 6Dec23 mods as follows:
Type-S Brembos
Type-S Rear Diffuser
Type-S Exhaust
I.D.S. Controller
K&N Drop-In Air Filter
OEM Lip Kit
KTuner
Phearable Stage 3 tune
RV6 Performance Downpipe
my downpipe just came and I can't get this on fast enough to see how to car reacts to this mod. my tune so far has made this car so much more fun to drive already.

lol thanks. I kind of went crazy and decided to knock everything out at once. Once my wheels get here next month it’ll be done. I mainly wanted to finish the TLX because my NSX is going to get a big change this year and I wanted to put all my focus on that once I start it and not worrying about trying to mod 2 cars at once.

this has been a good day for my car. my project kics lug nuts for my new wheels came in and I got my car tuned. its putting down 343whp, a little over 100whp gained over stock. then to finish off my day I just got word that my SSR professor SP5 wheels came in, they're at my wheel place getting the lips chromed. I don't like polished lips because of the maintenance they require. it's much easier to clean chrome. I just hate I won't have my wheels for another month. I at least got this pic which I know I'll be drooling over until I get them back.

Thanks. Yes, there’s a decent amount of a difference. The TLX turbo tops out at best at 300whp on 93 pump gas and that’s working the turbo to its limits and falls off pretty hard. while the integra type s turbo tops out at around what I got on 93 pump gas and keeps pulling further through the powerband where the TLX falls off. I technically didn’t really need to upgrade but this is my first turbo car so I’m kind of experimenting and wanted to see how much of a difference it would be. I had my TLX tuned with no bolt ons and it made a huge difference so I highly recommend anyone with a second gen TLX to get it tuned. It absolutely wakes the car up and that was with no bolt on and just a tune. Buy a ktuner and download one of the 3 stages and call it a day. Unless you want more power and do what I did.

Oddly enough, the ITS turbo 18900-66V-A01 is $213.93 less than a 2021 TLX turbo 18900-6B2-A02 (the only year I could find) on APW.com:
So, why not.

Yep. It WAS. Lol. I kinda wish I still had it. I was looking at swapping a Type R turbo on. I already had the stage 2 from Hondata. Exhaust. A 2nd set of wheels. I had plans. But my desire for an F80 M3 was too high. Sadly, I sold it and end up settling on a 2018 S4. Loved it. Made me an Audi fan. But now I have a 2024 Odyssey. All I can really do to that is intake, coilovers, and wheels. It'll be my daily until it's paid off. Not buying anymore cars unless I happen upon a CRAZY deal on an Audi RS5. Hahahaha!

Or is the ITS turbo still to 'new' and there just is not any or enough data?
Maybe your tuner can explain the detail as to what is superior?
TIA

Just curious, is there any way to provide individual superiority mechanical specifics on the ITS 18900-66V-A01 over the TLX turbo 18900-6B2-A02 that gives you the '...pulling further through the powerband where the TLX falls off' impression?

Easier said then done, because I have not seen any type of specs., in regards to manufacturer or turbo size; thus, the inquiry to yourself as the trendsetter.
When time permits, have him give you all that he knows, for instance its brand manufacturer, size, or cfm @ X psi, et al; as to why it is better than the factory TLX, if he knows, of course.
Any type of data would benefit this thread for those whom want to upgrade & 'cough up' an additional $1K for the ITS unit.

ill see if he can spare sometime and break it down for me to relay the info. after driving both tuned I can tell the difference between the two easily but I get wanting more specific info. there's 2 other drop in no mod needed turbos for the tlx (mhi stage 2 & prl p700) but after researching they're both not worth the upgrade imo. the its turbo hits the sweet spot.
Here is some general data derived from Acura open source press releases found by forum member 619rcr which similarly ties into what you feel while driving:
Snippet from acura 2024 Integra Type S press kit:
In the Type S, the high-revving VTEC® Turbo engine with direct injection features unique throttle tuning for quick throttle response. An electrical waste-gate is paired with a low-inertia high-flow mono scroll turbocharger. This configuration enables the turbocharger to generate pressure in a wider range of engine speeds and maximizes torque output in the mid-rpm range for greater response and drivability.
ref-https://acuranews.com/en-US/releases...pe-s-press-kit
Snippet from 2021 tlx press kit:
2.0-liter Turbocharged Engine
2.0-liter DOHC direct-injected and turbocharged inline-4 engine
272 horsepower at 6,500 rpm (SAE net)
280 lb.-ft. torque at 1,600-4,500 rpm (SAE net)
VTEC® valvetrain with Dual VTC
Low-inertia mono-scroll turbo system with electric wastegate
Computer-controlled Direct Injection (DI) with high-flow fuel injectors
9.8:1 compression ratio
Super lightweight, high-rigidity steel crankshaft
“4-into-1” exhaust manifold integrated into cylinder-head casting
Sodium-filled valves
Ref - https://acuranews.com/en-US/releases...-tlx-press-kit
The simple commonality that stands out is that a factory 'Low-inertia mono-scroll turbo system with electric wastegate' are used in both models; however, 619rcr brings up the important point that there may be a larger exhaust housing on the ITS turbo as well?
By chance, did you or your tuner / installer happen to notice a visual size difference in the either exhaust housings or the actual turbo's while in hand 'out of the box' in your #51 picture post above or before the install?
If so, then that paired with the slightly lower OEM price over the regular TLX turbo makes this upgrade even more appealing.

But the dyno results do kind speak for themselves on why the ITS turbo is the better turbo for performance than the non type s TLX.

since I get my wheels in 2-3 weeks I decided to finally throw my eibach springs on that ive had for a while. they're a lot lower than I figured it would be but I like it. my wheels will be 20s so it'll raise it slightly when I get them.
