2021 Type S plus 2008 Type S - generation to generation

I purchased a 2021 TLX Type S. Trading in my 2008 TL Type S was one of the hardest things I ever have had to do. They are both great cars but the new Type S amazes me every day. I purposely take the back roads every where I go to make use of the awesome SHAWD torque vectoring. It's so fun to drive. Take a look at my garage albums for full photos including my 2008 Type S nose to nose with the new 2021, the installation of the side skirts, Y spoke wheels, and carbon fiber spoiler.

Sorry to see you go, I hope you provide some side-by-side comparisons on how the new TLX feels versus the old 3rd gen. I still love my WDP Type S and have no intentions of selling it, but would like to see if the TLX is a proper replacement in your eyes.

Very nice acquisition. I agree, it is a very fun car to drive and i'm finding myself just waiting until the next commute just so i can get out and drive it lol. I am picking up those side skirts tomorrow from the dealer.

The question of it being a proper replacement I would answer yes. It's got so much more power and handling. The acceleration is amazingly fast, 0 to 60 in 4.9 sec from a launch controlled stop attainable. I find myself using any excuse to go for a drive and take the long way there for maximum fun. Other features that have been added or improved like the heated and cooled driver and front passenger seats,, audio system and navigation with Android auto are a blessing. Say what you want about the touch pad interface but I find it easy to use and it's much better than the clunky old style touch screen from the 3G. The prominent dynamic mode selector is such a cool feature with all the different modes and their respective tuning and ambient lighting. The super handling all wheel drive should be standard on all vehicles these days.
Would I go back to my 3g? I would still end up using it from time to time if I still had it. I kinda wish I could've kept it as a second card but we already have too many cars in the driveway. I'll always have that nostalgia for the 3g TL. I still find myself spotting 3g TLs everywhere.

I still love my 3g. It was such a fun car to drive. I've owned 3 in total over the years, a 2006 TL 6speed manual, a 2008 TL tech package, and finally an 08 TL Type S. Giving it up was a very hard thing to do and there are things I miss coming out of a 3g. The 3g is roomier inside the cabin and everything fits like a glove. And the materials used inside and out are solid. Also, the option of having a manual transmission is something that makes the 3g unique and fun to drive.

see a professional YouTube review like throttlecar or savagegee, the new type s is mediocre at best

mad respect to savage geese. But this review you quoted was comparing 3G TL Type S to the current gen TLX Type S. And to your point, the TLX Type S costs less than most of its competitors except the G70 and the Stinger which I absolutely hate the styling of the interiors of. The superhandling all wheel drive is better on the Type S, so it handles the corners much better than those 2 cars. Ultimately, all the cars in the class are fun to drive and very close in 0 to 60. The Type S mainly suffers from being the car with the most weight in the class hence why it loses against some others in the class in certain situations. You have to look at the total package not just numbers. Also when you watch the throttlehouse review they admitted that they would rather drive a Type S as their daily driver over the other cars they compared. So if they like it that much, I guess it doesn't lose after all.
