Jb4 for Type S

I just seen on their website that the Jb4 tuner is no longer a Beta product. Thinking of buying it.

If they didn’t fix the problems I wouldn’t bother. JB4 has been problematic for majority of people.

I have the JB4 and my only issue is that under WOT, I usually get a hesitation while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Not entirely sure if this is a slight overboost condition or some claim it’s the ECU not shifting fast enough and hitting redline. Other than that, it’s noticeable gains and drives like stock during normal driving.

I’ve read a bunch of things on n54tech that people have had issues like that and were instructed to change fuel trim values in the user adjustments section and have fixed the issue. My hope is that they’ve collected enough data and fixed the issues that’s why it’s out of beta? It’s not like Ktuner is without its quirks and issues either.

all it pretty much needs atm is getting rid of boost cuts, boost number adjustment, maybe VCM disabler and definitely 23-24 support

Are there any JB4 users on here who had this issue and found a way to resolve it? Please share info.

So I’ve had the jb4 for about a week now and I ran into all the issues everyone else has.

I read a bunch of the jb4tech forum questions and found some really good info.

if you’re experiencing hard shifts or shifting early due to boost cutting, you can go to the user adjustment section and change multiple parameters.

Auto shift boost redux
fuel bias
boost by gear 1,2,3

you can find some suggestions on jb4tech.com forum from the guys at burgermotorsports on what values to use.

I have changed the fuel bias, lowered it from the starting point of 70, but didn’t see any change. I’ve played around with the boost by gear, primarily for 2nd gear, but also didn’t see any difference. Sometimes I wonder if some of these adjustments even do anything. I’ll give it another try when I have time.

So not telling anyone to use my settings but here is what I did. Use at own risk.

fuel bias set to 40 across the board down from 70
auto shift boost redux 10
boost reduction 1st gear 1
boost reduction 2nd gear 1

So far this has helped the shifts be more like stock. I don’t know if this works for now cause it’s cold outside. Might have to play a bit more when the weather gets warmer.

On a side not, I’m on winter tires and they were over inflated so I was running into traction control issues causing weird shifts as well but I brought down the tire pressure and all was good.

Gonna play around a bit more this weekend and see what the car likes better. Will post results
