Just purchased my TLX type S and I am having issue with Apple Car Play. Sometimes my phone won't come up, sometime I cannot skip to the next song. I just purchased a new cable via amazon to see if that would fix the problem, and nada.

I guess I should start with the best cable, right? Any suggestions?

I've gone well over a year now with almost zero issues with Carplay. A quality Anker USB cable plays a part in this, I believe. But the infotainment's lack of ability to multitask on startup is the main thing to be aware of. As many posters have mentioned, waiting to connect your phone until the disclaimer screen goes away is important, but I think waiting about 20 seconds later for the onboard nav to load up is also important. If you dont have the onboard nav already displayed in your center display, look at your guage cluster. You can tell when the compass heading shows up in the center gauge cluster right above the odometer - when "N" or "S" or "SE" etc. or whatever appears there, that means the system is all loaded up. Then you connect your phone and the car only has to handle the infodump from and to your phone and nothing else; and for me at least this has worked consistently well. Until of course the inevitable day the ticking time bomb that is the infotainment wiring harness issue that's been widely reported by posters on this site decides to deliver its knee-buckling kick squarely to my gentleman's area.

No problem. Type S and ASpec's like mine have the same infotainment so hopefully, your issues with carplay will be minimal. Enjoy your new wheels!
