I downloaded the new map file and put the usb in the car. 30 minutes to work and the map didn’t update. Unplugged and replugged the usb and drove home. Still not updated. I DID see the message “map being updated” but it’s still version the old version (2019.7.8 I believe?)

How long does it take for the update to complete?

 

Took me 80 minutes; 1 hour, & 20 minutes
After the upgrade, it says complete
The next day, my screen said it needs an update
Acura techs are clueless; they blame Garmin, etc.
Bottom line, it works, but still needs an update

 

Was that 80 minutes at once? If I turn the car off before it finishes do I have to start over again?

 

I'm holding off on updating due to the issue. I use primarily Waze and Google Maps anyway so not a high priority for me.

Same here. Took about 90 minutes total. The navigation says the map is updated but still says update needed. I was thinking about doing it again but will wait now until Acura figures it out. My first service is coming due soon so I’ll ask them about it then.

 

How do you know it still needs an update? If the map version is 2021, then no right? Did you mean system update?

Does anyone who has succeeded know if there is any status while the map update is happening? If not, do you get a completion message after 90 minutes?

That message that the “Maps are out of date” was a known bug in certain Map versions. Thus even right after users updated their Maps they’d still get that message. This was believed to be corrected at the HERE servers etc. Bottom line that out of date message is some sort of bug.

 

There is no active status indicator so what I do to check on the map update is “hit the home button on the track pad, then click on the maps and when the map screen first comes back on the “Map updating message” flashes on the screen for a second or two. You can do this at random times to check if it’s still updating providing you are in the car during the update. When the update is complete you do get a message that flashes “Map update complete restart vehicle to take effect”.

 

On the Acura Nav site this is the latest update for the 2019 RDX:

2021.08.04

It took 1 hour to download on a USB and 1 hour to install in the car.

 

What I would really like is for the nav to quit announcing pointless commands.

”in 500 feet, join the highway.” (No other option)
”follow the road”

 

Latest map update for my tlx 2021. My previous update is 2021.03.18

 

Takes two car start up to changed the map version number.

 

Mine took a little over an hour to finish. The update process isn't as intuitive as I would like as there is no progress indicator. Had to keep walking out to the driveway every 20 minutes to see if it was done.
