Anyone have experience with Phantom Audio?

Just curious if anyone has tried or heard the Phantom Audio upgrade from the 3D sound systems, particularly with the new tweeters??

Thanks much

Vince

I have their upgraded amp for my 2004 TL, can't comment on their speakers or tweeters, but Jessie Levy who runs the company is active on facebook and a bunch of the groups, might find some reviews there.

I used them on my 2016 TLX and I absolutely loved it. I started thinking about it again even before I pulled the trigger on my 21 Type S. I contacted them thru their website to see if they had anything for the current generation, so hoping they respond about that, and if they don't now i hope they have enough people asking about it to bring it to market.

No, that listing is a little confusing to me, I think they have some details wrong on there. It's listed under the first gen TLX, but of course the 2021 is a 2nd gen. The product description is the same as a lot of other products so I wouldn't pay attention to that. Their products are incredible, but the website and product pages definitely need some work. I wouldn't trust that page that they can do a 2021 2nd gen amp. I sent a message through their site a couple weeks ago but haven't heard back.

That makes sense. I never heard of them before so I looked it up. Hopefully they get back to you sooner than later.

Jesse Kelley (Phantom) did my system (2020 TLX Tech in May of this year... premium upgraded unit, plus new center and A-pillar speakers. Couldn't be happier with the results and with Jesse's guidance. The guy absolutely knows his craft and seemed to care more about matching my needs than selling (or upselling). By the way... his claim that the amp swap could take "10 minutes". He lied, it took almost 15 minutes of wrench time, but he also did the speakers at the same time.

At the time I asked him about the newer gen (2021+). Apparently the new amps are a different animal, so he didn't know if or when he might address. As many of you might understand the modifications that Jesse has developed and refined are not straightforward. It involved many hours of trial and error... change some circuits/components, then test, then change others, then test, then change... The guy specializes in Honda/Acura who knows the ins-and-outs of the ELS system, is a perfectionist, and his results speak for themselves. Some folks get the job done by the "shotgun" approach (throw aftermarket amps/speakers at the car), Jesse uses the "rifle" approach (find the true weakness and/or components to upgrade).

If my memory is good his website listed his phone number. Perhaps you might call him and pick his brain. He has always been very responsive and helpful no matter how dumb my questions might have been. Best of luck.

yeah I was planning on giving him a call to ask about it. I know I've read they had a lot of trouble with some other newer Honda models where the traces inside the amps were too small for them to have success at scale. My main complaint with the 2021 system is there's almost no bass coming from the actual subs themselves and it all comes from the front doors, so I'm also considering replacing those subs and adding their own dedicated amp. For right now the audio projects are taking a back burner to some non-car things I have going on, but I will 100% buy a phantom amp for my 2021 if they can make it happen.

Good points re "issues with the newer Hondas". My guess is that if Jesse can't do it he might be able to suggest alternatives to get you where you want to be. For my installation I went out to Jesse's operation, got to meet him, bought him lunch and picked his brain. He's a genuine throwback to a time when quality. customer satisfaction, and reputation were paramount. Take your time, do your research, and you'll get it right!
