Why no inventory?

And for @Edward'TLS , I can totally understand your reasoning and am glad you love your Cayenne! I know a lot of folks talked about the last-gen RLX SH-SH-AWD as "a four door NSX", so did you ever look into one of those?

Then I tell myself. Fxxk it. Life is short. If I don't fulfill my dream now, I may never will. My next car may be my last car I buy, especially after having gone through and survived the Pandemic. I waited 2 more years for the MDX Type-S to come out, but the Type-S didn't cut it, and I bought myself a 467hp 2024 Cayenne S. The exhaust rumbling sound of the twin-turbo V8, the endless dose of instant torque pull, the excellent handling characteristic, and the luxurious European interior all make me feel my every cent well spent on my dream vehicle.
However, if Acura had made available a 4/5 seater NSX for purchase, I would have run to the dealership in my pyjamas to order one, for any price.

Now I am gonna play advocate here and ask you if it was a modern BMW from recent years, say 2018+ newer?
I will say the BMWs have became more reliable than they used to be in recent years, still over engineered which can be a bad thing when it comes to long-term ownership for BMWs. Haven't heard many issues from those who own a B58 powered BMW. But you did state that "YMMV" so what you experienced may have just been a car built on a Friday and not a Monday at the factory ya know?![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)

You discontinue the model, easy! haha
But honestly speaking I think the TLX is on its way out of the lineup entirely. To me its not good when a brand simplifies the trim levels down to 3 only, and then slowly produces them just after announcing a refresh. In fact our well known Asian/Korean Brand youtuber Kirk Kreifels talks about the TLX sales and the future of it and the future of Acura as a whole in his latest video

I think this must be a temporary issue. Acura wouldn't refresh the model only to discontinue it. I did hear about the production line change which is what I think is going on.
Regardless, it is pathetic that there is so limited inventory for a car (especially type S) that is getting a lot of attention with the refresh. This shouldn't be a car that dealers are selling for msrp or acting like a limited model.

I do not know the whole story but when you go to an Acura car dealership in my city, there is no TYPE S available. So you have to place an order and even the A-SPEC, only a few vs. MDX they have a dozen with different colors to buy on the spot.

same thing with my local dealer, a handful of TLX A-spec's, but zero Type S available.

Maybe Acura thinks if folks want a Type S they will just jump over to the MDX as they are more practical anyway.

If you have to wait 6 months then the 2025 TLX models will be out, if there is a 2025 model. If people need a vehicle, they are not going to wait 4-6 months they are going to be looking somewhere else. Sedans are dying out as most folks want SUVs now.

that's what happened with a few people that I know....they ordered 2023 and got 2024 models....I know it's not just Acura but sucks to see the sedan market is slowly dying! Except 3 Series and C Class which are the market leaders, the rest of the sedans aren't doing well.

I'd really wanted an ASpec. The changes in the 21 Tech aren't worth it IMO. The body style changes are minimal. I already have a wireless CarPlay adapter. If I can't get an Aspec, I'll just buy it and keep it for another 5-6 years.

The TLX is dead, a whopping 40.2%/62.3% decrease in sales in the US:
https://www.carscoops.com/2024/05/sa...xcept-for-one/
If you're buying and the TLX was on your list either buy used if what you want is not on the lot or find something else.

1. Stop making cars
2. Bemoan declining sales
3. Kill line because nobody is buying cars

So I went to the Acura dealership yesterday, here's what they have sitting right at the front of the lot: 6 used TLXs: https://www.rizzaacura.com/inventory...roduction=true they had WAY more than this in February.
12 here: https://www.acurabymcgrath.com/searc...9&mk=1&tp=used
Wow they are just loaded to the brims all over with USED TLXs that people turned in... ughh
I spoke to the manager and he has no information on when or if they will get the 2024 TLX now. He refunded my deposit with no issues. I had to, I was supposed to have the car by now; my car has failed emissions and needs $3000+ in repairs/parts, July was my deadline, and the emissions parts are backordered... so I had to bite the bullet and go ahead with the repairs, I cannot be without a vehicle and at least I know all the work I've put into the car I own now, even though it's got 240,000 miles (all my miles)

The other mind boggling situation is all of the YouTube reviews that have been posted the last few weeks for the Type S, yet Acura is not building many of them. WOW !!!!

And every single one is a gray Type S. Gray Type S was at the Chicago Auto Show too. Maybe it's the only gray one built this year - LOL - and it's getting passed around to the reviewers like a hot potato

I wonder if it’s people like me whose lease is up and they want to get into something else.
I just wonder what they are getting into as an alternative. My salesman pushed hard for me to consider the Integra A-Spec Tech as an alternative as there are a ton available.
I drove one. While there some things I liked about it, I didn’t like it as much as my current TLX.

Yeah that is more than likely Acura's 2024 TLX-S Press Car thats being passed around to all the reviewers. One of the key indicators is the license plate is similar video to video.
#65
3421 is the demo unit license plate assigned to Honda. Every press car they make can share this number. So it could be 1 demo, or a dozen demos, that reviewers are using. The plate will always be 3421.

Honda/Acura has always done business this way, though. My favorite was when they would offer a manual but only in the stripped down model that was missing critical options so it wouldn't sell well and then they would say see no one wants this so we are going to discontinue it. ![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)

To your point about manufacturers, Jaguar had a beautiful XJ-S convertible with ether a six or V12. A manual transmission was only available on the six, while almost all the people who wanted a manual also wanted the V-12.
I bought a V-12 and replaced the GM automatic with a Tremec 5-speed and changed the rear from 2:88 to 3:54. Ah, the good old days, these days with all the electronics that sort of hot-rodding is virtually impossible.

I think it was more so an off topic post response to Edward making a slight nod/reference to @mike03a3 's very own BMW M550i xDrive which comes from factory with 523hp iirc... thus it being hard for him to step down into a lesser powered car.
I must say though, at 523hp those M550is are pretty quick!

Not always Honda/Acura, sometimes the dealer. Once (maybe 20 years ago) I went with my daughter to buy a new Accord for her. An EX-L w/Nav, the top of the line. She wanted a manual, but the dealer (a large one) said they didn't stock them because nobody wanted one. When she asked how long to order one the reply was several months because they had a waiting list. My sweet daughter informed him he was a f**king moron.

The have 441 2024 cars, but only 9 of them are TLX and none are Type-S.
They only have 2 left-over 2023 cars, both TLX. And one of them is a Red Type-S! So I guess that's some evidence the buyers stopped loving the TLX somewhere along the line. They are beautiful cars, but some of the design choices were criticised by many who publicly test drove them, chiefly making it bigger on the outside but small inside, especially the back seat.
I would hate to see Acura go. We have had Honda/Acura in our family since 1968.

That works too, the dads can get away with "honey we need the SUV with good power to haul the family". The MDX-S can pump a little more in power with hybrid setup, and for the ZDX, Honda is probably cooking something for the refresh or next gen.
