All,

Got this email from my dealer today..."There have only been 2 HPT Type S' built in our 8 state region with the Apex Blue/Ebony color combo. I show nothing on order in that color and package for any dealers. I did end up with an extra standard Type S, Majestic Black with Red interior that I do not have sold. This unit is in our order report but does not have a production date set yet. I would put your name on that vehicle if you'd like. I do believe on our next allocation I will be able to order more than 2 units like this month. I welcome any questions that you have but will most certainly keep you updated if I get any news."

I originally ordered an Apex Blue/Ebony w/HPT option back on 4/16. Majestic Black would be my second choice on exterior color. I torn on the interior color. Ebony looks blah in the pictures I've seen. Red doesn't seem crazy to me with a Black exterior. At this point, the wheel situation doesn't matter. I going to buy the Y spokes whether they come on the car or not. So now it's do I want a Black w/Red.

What would you guys do?

 

You're spending a lot of money, wait for exactly what you want to don't settle for anything less. That's what I would do.

 

I believe you already have some hesitation on the exterior color, and you're worried about the red interior. If you can wait a little longer, maybe try to look at other dealerships. If you can't wait any longer and dealership is being reasonable with price, might as well get it now. Tough choice no matter what.

 

This; especially if you're purchasing and not leasing. Another option would be to get apex blue/ebony without the HPT package, and then get the wheels separately. If you also need/want summer tires, this could increase the cost of this approach.

Have you tried opening up your search outside of your local dealers? I wasn't having luck with mine and luckily found an exact match 4 hours away. Inconvenient, but I'd rather have it this summer instead of waiting until later this year. Not sure where you're located but one of the dealers here in Pittsburgh mentioned to me they were getting one in apex blue/black.

I'm the opposite

I could have taken a car in either grey/red, grey/black, white/black, or black/black. But I would have kicked myself every time I saw a blue one. It's so tempting when they tell you what's available though! I know the pain.

 

Wait for your chosen combination to come out. If it comes out as a 2022 MY vehicle, so be it.

One of the worse things in life is to see someone driving vehicles of your favourite colour, and you curse to yourself for not willing to wait longer. After all, a $52K car is not a cheap car to make your life miserable.

 

MBP with red interior is a great combo... I do agree with you on the ebony. It looks kind of plain.

 

 

I agree, it’s a lot of money and you should get what you want….I love my Apex Blue ASpec SH-AWD with the Ebony interior. I feel as thought the red interior is too flashy.

 

DON'T SETTLE!

At the end of the day, you're making payments on something, so might as well be something that you really wanted. When I bought my 2019 X3 M40i I was NOT willing to settle. I wanted certain options and a specific color. When I found the one I wanted, I drove 7 hours and bought it. Zero regrets.

 

I'd wait. But I keep my cars for a looong time! I bought my current Type-S in 2007, and the car it replaced was a Jaguar I bought in 1988! I find one that really appeals, and then enjoy it. I am genetically incapable of settling for something that doesn't fully meet my expectations.

 

Thanks all! Appreciate all the comments. It's a really tough decision. I really want Apex Blue but also love Majestic Black.
I will probably wait until I can get exactly what I want. I plan on keeping the car a longtime. I'm currently still driving a 2005 TSX. LOL!

 

You might want to check Acura's incoming inventory. I just noticed yesterday that there are 7 blue w/ black models in transit within 250 miles from me (covering PA, OH, VA). Looks like that combo just came off the line.
