Test drove a TLX Type S today

Current owner of a 08 TL Type S. It has been my daily driver for 6 years now. Been keeping an eye on the TLX Type S. Finally got to see one up close and drive it. Coming from a 2008 to a 2021 car is crazy. So much going on with these newer cars. The steering wheel vibrates when you turn without using your blinker.. 😒 for example. A message that tells you to brake when coming up to stopped cars 🫣. A bunch of other things too that I believe is not needed that I kind of chuckle at. Interior space seems the same or a little smaller then my 3rd gen TL, which doesn't make sense. But gorgeous interior. Had the carbon fiber interior pieces with the red seats. The car has a huge appearance and is very wide. You see a giant hood when driving. Don't really like that. But it is beautiful overall 😍. Performance is very nice, it scoots out very well and that 10 speed auto shifts fast. Worth $55k+ though???.. Not sure about that one. But what's crazy is the average price of a new car is $48,000~now. The Acura lot only had 10 new cars. The rest were used. Salesman said they usually have 500 or so. 🤯 But chip shortage has hurt them on getting new ones in. Basically have to put $500 down and be put on a waiting list.

Once I got back into my 128k mile TL. I didn't really feel disappointed.

Some pictures. Also there was a new nsx type S there! Wasn't for sale.

Still love the way that Gen of TL’s look. My brother had one and I think the look still holds up today.

Yes, the 3rd gen TL is quite possibly the best looking sedan ever. It's too bad there will never be another one like it and I'm kicking myself for getting rid of my 2007 with only 91k miles.

I daily an 07TL and there is no comparison to my TLX Type-S. The 3G while beautiful is dated and not nearly the car of the new Type-S. I think new cars all have silly safety tech but it does help make the drive experience safer and more enjoyable. Adaptive cruise and traffic jam assist, low speed follow are enough to upgrade lol. But you're typically not going to experience that in a quick test drive. Keep the 3G, but don't be fooled into thinking it is a TLX Type-S comparison

You're an idiot if you think you need those driving features and you shouldn't be on the road. The N/A V6 is also going to last much longer than the one in the TLX.

Those are bold statements. Comparing the two vehicles is not an apples to apples comparison.

Nobody says you NEED those driving features. You don't need power steering, power brakes, A/C, or a heater. They're just kind of nice to have.
