Side Skirts Installed (Pics)

Had the side skirts installed this morning

The side skirts should be standard on all Type S.

ties the entire exterior together.

Looks good! Happy with mine as well. Thoughts on getting the rear pieces? I'm probably getting them, but wish the rear bumper didn't have to be removed.

No treason for the rear pieces.

The Type S already has the unique rear and the side skirts match perfectly.

I think from an exterior perspective the car looks complete.

I ordered my side skirts the other day so I’m just waiting for them to arrive and have them installed. Definitely completes the sporty look of the already gorgeous Type S.

My 2019 ASPEC had side skirts so it’s a bit annoying that the Type S doesn’t even if the new ASPEC doesn’t.

I find it amusing that right after I finished my custom skirts, diffuser, and exhaust on my ILX, I caught the sales manager of my dealership taking pictures. Does it look similar?

+1 Always hated how the stock skirts tuck in towards the rear, which makes the sides look "higher" (on top of missing black accent trim like the front and rear).

But now with these accessory skirts, the sides are lower, albeit better than before. Is there absolutely no way to install the front and rear pieces, or do the Type-S diffusers get in the way? Seems like the rear should work, at least in pics. Would love to see those custom fitted on somehow...that would look insane.

The rear aero piece can be installed ok on the Type-S. It is the front aero piece that can't, because the front bumper on the Type-S is shaped differently than the regular TLX.

In fact, there is so much difference that even the LED fog light can't fit onto the Type-S front bumper.

Props to Acura for the accessory side skirt actually replacing the entire rocker panel, as opposed to going for a cheaper, "stuck-on" side-skirt over top. Much cleaner look.
Acura hasn't actually done this type of accessory trim (i.e. replace a panel instead of tacking one on) since the pre-refresh 2006-2008 TSX accessory front lip, which was actually an entirely new front bumper...


...after the 2009 refresh they went back to a cheaper, stuck-on front lip...

Is it really shaped differently? From press releases, etc. the front changes were limited to the open upper/lower grilles, diffuser, and Type-S badge. Based on pics, it seems the diffuser wraps around the sides of the bumper, thus blocking the aero pieces which also mount on the side. But perhaps the diffuser can be removed and reattached below the aero piece?

As for the fog light, I suspect the fitment issues are due to what's behind the fog grilles (cooling components, etc).

You are correct. I compare the pictures again and see that the bumpers, without the trim pieces, are very close to one another on the regular and the Type-S sedans.
