Securing a Type-S

On the other hand, it's only $10K more than the Veloster N that Russel Westbrook's dealership in Anaheim is asking for. By that comparison, the $75K Type S is an absolute steal.

Received update from dealer on Saturday...finally have a build date! 11/10-11/14! Finally.
Sadly, the original build date was 10-4-10/8 but the HPT were delayed again!

Honestly, I'm not sure but assuming it's a 2022 MY.
Got an email from them yesterday. Ordered/deposit placed 4/16/21. Original production date was 10/4, then moved to 11/10, then moved to 11/20 and now he told me I been moved up to 11/8. Fingers crossed this actually happens. Feels like I've been waiting forever.
Ordered Apex Blue/Ebony w/HPT.

I put down $1000 in June 2021 . Have not received the vehicle yet. It’s a type s tiger eye with orchid interior. Now the dealer says it’s delayed again. Thought. It was coming mid November now it’ will build the car in December .

Dealer says nobody has cars to swap they are literally getting them one at a time. Mine was supposed to be built end of October butnowits delayed again until December and no one at the dealer knows why

Well...the car is finally in transit to the dealer! After 7 long months, ordered on 4/16, she's finally on her way! Can't wait for her to arrive. Apex Blue/Ebony w/HPT. I believe, I'm the first in STL with Y spokes. Only seen 3 others (white, grey and red) in STL all have had normal wheels.
Adding side skirts, black chrome logos black chrome lug nuts, and carbon fiber trim. Swapping tire to Continental Extreme Contacts too. Dealer threw in Type S all season mats. May buy TuxMat though.
After all that, then I'll take the car for tint, ceramic and PPF.
Will post pics once she arrives!

I ordered mine back in May with the performance tire package but the first Apex Blue with Red interior came with standard tires. I was offered the car as it was my preferred combination and I took it. I’ve since added side skirts, rear underbody and the Y-Spoke wheels but I did keep the all season tires as they’re performing well. I did add paint protection film and ceramic coating a bit ago too. I took delivery back on August 18th.

I've seen only one driving around -- gray or silver in west county. Mungenast had a white one on their lot a few weeks ago. That's it. Yours will definitely stand out. Enjoy it.

Well super excited! She should arrive tomorrow at 10am.
Was able to track the car on the Cassens website. Once you have your VIN you can search by VIN and Dealer Code or click dealer display and find your dealer!

I paid msrp, and it would seem the majority have (or those that did pay adm are quite hush hush about it) there are not a ton of cars available right now since its between the 21/22 build cycle, but i cant imagine there are many dealerships that if you walked in and said here is $2,000 down order me a type S at msrp and put it in writting that wouldnt do it. Why lose that easy of a sale for a car they dont even have yet. You may have to wait a few months to get it though. You could aslo try the classic of emailing the closest 5 dealerships and saying the first one to reply saying yes to my offer of msrp to order me a type S gets my down payment of $2,000 in 2 days. Easy money for them and they know if they dont take your offer it is a lost sale for them. Just make sure you outline all your demands and make sure getting your deposit back is a part of the deal for any circumstance you might encounter.

I am in Michigan & placed a order on a:
-2022 TLX Type-S
-Apex Blue Exterior with Red Interior & performance wheels
I put a $500 deposit on 10/30 & my salesman told me they submitted orders to Acuraon 11/15. right now they are awaiting on the production date then delivery. My guess the car won't arrive until March or April. I also got my for MSRP. But really the wait sucks imo I was ready to purchase a TLX Type-S but the only once they had was Tiger Eye Pearl.

I got mine with a small ADM of $2500, talked down from $5k. This was back in mid Nov. I figured why not with limited cars available and carvana gave an offer I couldn’t pass on. I called the dealer 2 hours away and put down a $1000 deposit over the phone and picked up a few days later. Sold my ‘15 TLX to carvana and bought the type s in the same day. Keep an eye on inventory around you and use car prices if your trading in. It happened so fast lol very happy I did after 1,500 miles with it. Good luck!!

I started seaching all Acura dealers in IL, went on websites and landed in 1 dealer that had 4 in stock. 2 in show room. Msrp was shown online so I didn't even think about a mark up. I called then and said this is what I want have it ready for test drive and I said I want everything quick and painless. Went in and was all smooth. Paid MSRP and ordered underbody spoilers. Got them next day and windows tinted. Got 600 Miles so far. So glad I went in when I did. Secured a 22 for MSRP. Now they don't even have a single on left in any Acura dealer near me.

Pauly Acura in Highland Park. Mine was the last one out of 3 they received in Sept and no one wanted that color combo (blue/red). Shockingly it sat for a few months. I fought to get down to msrp but they were sticking with it.

Nice, I also got a quote from Carvana but used it as negotiating leverage for trade-in value at the dealer. In MD you can credit the hypothetical sales tax on your trade-in against the new car sales tax, so I was more inclined to trade at the dealer vs sell to Carvana/Carmax.
Surprised that Acura dealers are still getting an ADM. Thought it would be done after the initial rush. Cars lke mine are not usually available off the dealers lot & right now its a typical 135/140 days from getting an allocation to delivery. Depending on dealer allocations can be a few months on the waiting list. All look to be going out at MSRP. Hate it, since 1962 have never paid list. This was the first time. Just about 18 months ago was 16% off MSRP for my last car.

Paid +$2K ADM which the dealer said was lower than the other Acura dealers, and stressed that fees were lower as well.
Certainly worth a try, but I'm not sure how successful this strategy will be with the current shortage. While calling around to local dealers I had implied that I was thoroughly shopping around for the best price and nobody budged, and I live within 20 miles of about 7 dealers so competition wasn't the issue. With the Type-S, dealers know that they'll sell each and every single one. All the models on the lot and most "in transit" that I inquired about were already pre-sold. I'm sure they're already seeing dollar signs for the MDX Type-S. When you consider how hard it has been to even get the MDX Advance and A-Spec going all the way back to spring I wouldn't be shocked if a few examples get sold near to or beyond six-figures.

Ok yes the black 22' with ebony interior. I was eyeing that car for a while it is very tempting but I just hate black cars. My ultimate desire is apex blue with red interior & performance wheels which is what I have on order. I don't think my car will arrive till March or April.

Car Crazy for Sure!
where I've purchased 9 Acuras so far and one more to come, the owners have had this guidance..."we will not sell any new vehicle over
MSRP." And, they don't. Now, until recently with the shortage of inventory, I always paid a little above Invoice. Not this time! First time
I've ever paid MSRP. But, I learned to "bend" this time knowing the market situation, my age...LOL!....and I wanted a '22 Type S. It's being
built the first week of Feb, and I hope that doesn't get bumped. But, if so, it's still MY CAR and I'll wait.
When I was on the hunt for the new C8 Corvette, I found that one of my local Chevy dealers also had that guidance....from the owner....we will not
sell the new Vette over MSRP. Rare....since the supply is low, the demand is VERY HIGH....so most all Chevy dealers get big ADM's. I tried to order
one, but, the problem early on was with production delays, low inventory, etc, etc. I got the right pricing....BUT, did not end up with the car. I would not
pay over MSRP.

One of my daughters is moving to booster seat and I went to discuss with my dealer the purchase of TYPE S for summer 2022. I am encountering three issues:
1. The dealer can't confirm the delivery date. As I am already in another lease term, so I need sometime to resolve it.
2. I put the car seats in the back and the booster is fine but my younger's car seat is tight and getting in and out is not fun.
3. There is no "ADM" but the dealer is kinda pushing me to get some accessories. Which I refuse to pay.
I am still undecided, I am not in rush and I have two almost brand new cars...Let's see how the world shapes up and car supplies and auto-market go back to normal or not.
*Btw - I test drove C43, BMW 340i and TYPE S to compare. ( I excluded A4 and G70 as I have ZERO interest in those two cars.) Although the 340 and C43 are amazing machines and superiors in certain areas compared to the TYPE S, but Acura fits my taste and budget.

Overpriced junk you don't want & would not order is ADM under a different name. Just a stealth profit enhancer.

Totally agreed! I just can't believe when people pay over MSRP. I know the auto-market is upside down. But I have really hard time to accept what the dealer is telling me to do. I often got a price discount and some freebies. Now it feels like they are doing me a favour to sell the car for $70K CAD (tax included). SMH
