A nice rock chipped my rim a little bit and I’d like to at least fill it in with a color that matches better than the chip itself. I’m not sure I’d want to pay to have the wheel repaired for a chip like I would with curb rash. Below are two images showing the chip. Any recommendations for a color match are appreciated.
I had a similar issue. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find an exact paint code to match the finish.
Modern Steel Metallic (Honda paint code: NH797) is a bit too light and slightly yellow tinged, and Carbon Grey Pearl (Honda paint code NH658P) is a bit too dark and slightly blue tinged. I ended up getting a mobile repair guy do a custom job by mixing paints to match the finish. But if you don't need an exact match either one of those are fine.

I would rather the color match. I’m not going to go nuts and have a guy repair the wheel as if it was curb rash though. I will likely ask my detail shop or even my guy at Acura if I they can get their repair guy to match me some paint.
If you need the paint code a "good dealer" can get it for you. I've done it many times. IF anyone wants me to contact my
Service/Parts Director I can have him find it. Just PM me and let me know.

Could you try and find the paint code for the rims?
Like the 3G TL Type S wheels, I think there is no defined paint code and I noticed it can vary from batch to batch. I ordered a replacement wheel for my performance tire Type S and it came a few shades darker than the set that came with my car.

There has to be something because those wheel repair guys can match it perfectly every time.
Very strange your wheel came in with a different shade. Is it possible the other rims have slight weathering and faded?

so a few weeks ago I got a flat, brought it in for warranty, they swapped the tire (wrong tire of course) but scraped the weights off and left marks. Brought it back a week later for wheel repair and it wasnt matched perfectly. It looks better but I can still see a slightly different shade. Apparently they don't even know the exact color

Bummer.
The wheel repair guy who did my wheel did a fantastic job when I had curb rash. I knew exactly where the repair was performed and still can’t see the difference.

I will contact him now and have him look it up. He's very busy, and sometimes...or often..LOL! hard to track down. But,
I'll email and ph. msg him right now!! Hope I'm right he can get it.
My Service/Parts Director just called Acura and they are not releasing the code #. We have NO idea why not.
He said that...Spec Wheel company can match and may have the paint code. Very weird about Acura not releasing it.
He tried.
This is the best I can come up with. Next...Spec Wheel I guess. I believe it's: Spec-Wheels of America in Commerce City, Colorado. 303-853-9978
Thank you for trying!
Its quite ridiculous that Acura is so secretive on this. Why would they want their product to look all chipped up?
I guess I’ll contact my detailer and see if the body shop they work with can match the paint. They contract with this shop to get touch up paint made so it’s worth a shot.
After talking to my detail shop they said no one seems to really know the paint code and that wheel repair businesses tend to just experiment until they find the correct shade. He’s going to reach out to the body shop they work with to try and get me something that matches though.
If all else fails I guess my buddy from Acura and I will just check different paint shades until we find the right one. Shouldn’t come to that though — you’d think Acura would want the car to look great.

acura has done a poor job with the simplest of things with the type s. I'm sure the scamdemic didn't help but they still havent even released a repair manual on a car going into year 3.

Even when OEM touch-up paint is available, many owners have found out that after-market touch-up paint solutions end-up providing a better result.
a. Color match is better
b. Often provide a two-step processes (clear-coat is separate).
Over in the Audi forums, the guys are saying that "ScratchesHappen" thru Amazon provided good results (sometimes, even better than OEM)..
And generally ... review/learn the best technique ... both prep and painting. Obviously, test it somewhere inconspicuous first.

You are lucky.
Any paint or minor body work like this (wheels, bumpers, door-dings, etc) is an art. Some people have learnt a good technique.
Others are more focused on "doing it fast" , making money, etc.

I have always had great results with PDR and paint touch up. Granted, the one on my door was deep and couldn’t be touched up perfectly but the detail shop did a great job. Next time I’m in he wants to wet sand it down a bit to even it out but doing so on the initial visit wasn’t possible as it was too fresh.
Wheel repair has always been great for me. This guy who works as a mobile repair guy and is contracted with my dealership takes pride in his work. My buddy who works at the Acura dealership even checks it before he leaves to ensure it’s good so I guess I have a slight advantage.
On a side note, I learned you never let a top notch PDR guy go. I found one who does fantastic work and as a result have used him a few times. The results are always flawless and he’s very upfront about what he has to do in order to fix it whether hail damage or a single ding.
