Not yet, but when we have kids if it’s difficult to fit a car seat in I’ll make the switch. I am hoping I can make it work and just get her an RDX but I am leaving my options open. An RDX Type S wouldn’t be out of the question if needed.

I just discovered last night that one of my puddle lights is not working. I know I've read that this is a common problem with the TLX, but I thought they would have addressed this by now? Is this a big fix? I'll have to drop it off at the dealership, but I'm assuming that they will need to order the part. Has anyone else had this issue?

I'll have to call and make an appointment. How long do they need your car to fix the light?

Based on some research, it appears that the 2023 Honda Pilot's puddle light, which is LED, is an exact replacement for the Type"s. I am going to see how much they cost.

Thats what I always do. I had both of mine replaced about a month ago when I was in for an oil change and other services. I generally leave the car overnight and take a loaner to save me time.
#52
What other problems have you encountered with your Type S?
#53
I twice got the "audio not connected" error code on the infotaiment screen. Go without a music for awhile, turn off car, open and close door, it resets. On routine service mentioned it. It turns out there is a TSB for this, the fix-replace the amplifier. No problems since.

Plugging it in destroys the whole point of a wireless charging pad! The exclusion of wireless CP/AA in this gen TLX makes the pad entirely worthless other than a place to rest the phone (depending on the SAR rating, I've always been queasy about any of my body parts resting anywhere close to the phone)!
Honestly, I think Acura included this to check off a box against the competition.

I haven't had my car long, but I personally think the charging pad sucks! I turned the charging pad off and I just plug my phone in now. I did buy a wireless CarPlay USB stick, but it is more of a hassle than it's worth half of the time. So, I'm just plugging it in now.

My only requirement on a new car was AWD because I live in the Midwest.

I completely agree! My wife still can’t understand why I didn’t opt for an Advance model that has all of the gimmicks. I was like nope, I want the look and that V6 engine. Heated steering wheels, etc. are nice, but I managed to go all of these years without them just fine!

Totally agree! I drove a BMW 340Mi as well. I really liked the looks of the Type S better though… the Type S is such a great value when you look at all that you get standard in it!

Just got my windows tinted. Stopped at home then took the car to dinner. Locked the car and the mirrors folded in. When I came out and unlocked the car they won’t move. I tried multiple restarts and no luck. Now, the walk away locking isn’t working either.
what is going on?

So, I ended up locking my car with my Acuralink phone app and that seemed to "reset" the system or whatever. Now, everything is working like normal. WEIRD!
Here are some pictures of my tints. I now have a scratch on a window (of course the tinter denies doing it), so I have to figure out how to buff it out. Other than that, I think the tint turned out pretty good.

Any idea if the Civic already has the door handle lights? If it does, it's just a simple matter of getting all the pluses from a Honda rebadge vs cars created w/something different in mind (TLX, RDX, MDX, etc). Something tells me Acura may just go back to the old formula of making Acuras from already good Honda bones.

Could probably apply such lessons life lessons elsewhere as well. LOL!
In any case, you've got 3 years to decide if it's the right car for you. Hopefully other owners will chime in to help you out. I plan to keep quiet so that you can come up with your own conclusions.

BMW??? hahah then you have no idea. BMW's doors don't open and power folding mirrors don't work when it's barely cold and you're talking about gimmicks. BMWs barely walk after 60,000KM. They are parked 24X7 at the garage Lexus, sure. hands down! I attest that they are the best when it comes to quality.

Consumer reports also had BMW ranked higher than Acura.

That data is outdated. You can go by newer data here:

Sure, if that makes you happy Elin! But we know the reality. I know a dozen of BMW owners and their regular issues. That said, let's keep the thread clean and forget BMW-M (M for maintenance)!

The market knows best what cars hold up well over time, as opposed to bought and paid for rankings (JD Power). Just look at the NADA values on a 5-10 year old BMW versus Honda/Acura/Lexus and see what the market thinks about the longevity, reliability of older BMWs.
Here's a preview -- a 2013 3 Series can be had for the mid-teens to about 20K (some higher, some lower). A 2013 Honda Accord (which we own -- splendid car), which cost about 50% of the 3 series when new, is about the same price, maybe just a tick lower.

Here's the updated rankings from Consumer Reports. Are these "paid for rankings"?
Acura dropped out of the top 10 after being ranked 8th in the previous list.

The fact that Lexus is below BMW and Mini, the list becomes VOID!

Do you really believe these rankings and garbage data? You're a car guy, and I am confident deep down you know the truth! Past, present or in 10 years. German cars are the worst when it comes to maintenance and depreciations. It's simple and no JD Power or CR can fix that. Yes, German cars fun (most of the time) and they drive well. 100%! But let's not open the can of worms about reliability, resale, depreciation and longevity. As we all know they don't get D but only F!

There's no point in updating rankings or lists if we just assume things are status quo based on the merits of past years.

The new BMW's are very reliable. I cross-shopped the 340Mi. I personally like the exterior looks of the Type S much more though. Don't get me wrong, the 340Mi is a great car and very sharp looking. I just personally prefer the Type S.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a BMW these days though!

They shouldn’t be on any list right now other than “do not buy”.
Its also difficult to believe Toyota is so far down.

Luckily for me, I'm part of the new generation of Bimmer owners. I know some of you have been burned in the past but I can only speak from recent experience (burned by Acura, doing fine w/BMW).
