Low MPG
Low MPG
I am driving this 2022 A-Spec SH-AWD with 3K miles on it and the real world gas mileage is nowhere near the posted 21 City, 29 Highway, 25 Combined. Until recently the average was 20.7 in suburban/ highway traffic driving. On the same route and with same driving habits the 2017 2.4L CVT Accord was averaging 28 mpg (EPA Combined 30). Now that I flashed the ECU with Ktuner Stage 2 (it's worth it) the TLX averages 19.2. The difference is significant. What could be causing this? What shall I check?

I've got a FWD A Spec and my numbers aren't far off; around 20 in my day to day, high 20's on the highway if I keep my foot out of it, 32 if its a long downhill.
Downside of turbo 4 cylinders compared to your old Accord- gotta keep your foot out of it and out of the boost if you want any sort of decent MPG.

Gas mileage has been constantly below what the car's rated for in my case too. I don't think it helps though that the speed limits in my suburb are 50-55 with plenty of roundabouts and stoplights though because that means there's lots of slowing down/stopping and then accelerating again, which means lots of fuel being used up.
My gas mileage drops to 18-20 MPG in the winter with maybe 50-50 city/highway driving. Warmer weather is better though and I see low 20s MPG.
On longer highway runs, I get around 27-28 MPG with speeds averaging 60 MPH.
Gas mileage isn't super high on my priority list, but I do wish the TLX were better, especially the non-Type S. Some of my previous vehicles easily got better gas mileage even though I drive them much more aggressively. Granted, the TLX is the heaviest of the bunch and perhaps SH-AWD has the most "mechanical drag" of them all (I don't know if this is true about SH-AWD vs. the other AWD systems my other cars have had though).

Currently averaging about 16mpg in my Type-S between highway and city driving.
I get better mpgs with mostly highway driving. This Turbo V6 is a gas sipper but I love it and I didn’t buy it to get the most mpgs
That’s why I got my Costco membership anyway

I'm pretty sure that I've posted this in other threads but my old 19 3.5 PAWS was a Prius in comparison to my 21 A-Spec FWD. Granted, the latter is running a stage 3 tune BUT, even in stock form it averaged 24 mpg at best where my 3.5 could easily average mid-30 mpg.
In addition, my 22 MDX SH-AWD is slightly worse than our old 20 MDX SH-AWD in this area as well.....granted, a lot this has to do with curb weight. That same J35 feels more labored in the new MDX than in the 3G.
