Long Time Acura History...First Time Type-S Purchase
A decade ago, I worked for Acura, and have always stayed in touch. Many cars, many brands, etc. later, kept wanting to drive a new Type-S, and see what it was really like.
Back in the summer, when SUV shopping, I had secured a Blue with Red MDX A-Spec, but changed my mind fully and bought a 2021 Lexus GX460 instead. Then a month later, traded a Lexus IS350C convertible I had for a loaded new 2021 IS350 F-Sport AWD sedan...that I'll be selling soon....
Last Friday, while traveling on the east coast (I live in Denver, CO and work in NY, mostly remotely), friends at a dealer showed a Blue/Red Type-S online, but it sold before I got there. "But we also just got a white one..."
6 miles, wrapped in plastic, not PDI'd fully yet, took a drive...and was hooked. Meet my new White Pearl with Red Type-S with the Performance Wheel Package. It's on the wrong side of the country currently, but I'll be flying back later in the month and doing a fun cross country road trip back to Colorado just like I did with my GX--the best way to bond with a new ride
Never have owned an Acura, ever, aside from 6 years with the company and 15+ demos including several TSX's & last gen TLX's. Big time Lexus fan, so this will definitely be a switch up...hoping the dealers in CO are what I expect from service, after being spoiled by Lexus for a while now.
Having the dealer Add:
-Heated steering wheel
-All season mats
-Cargo tray
-Cargo net
-Color matched splash guards
Debated the side sills everyone gets, but I'd rather have it be a bit cleaner, and like the look with the painted splash guards.
Asked for the Spare Tire Kit, but the parts department seems baffled, and "it requires additional parts" so we haven't been able to get that sorted yet.
Making calls to get the front Clear Wrap & Tint coordinated hopefully east coast before driving back.
More to come...

True! But it’s confusing after having driven back to back new Acura demos for 6.5 years, years back.
Sort of a re-intro, ha.
White is easy. Definitely wanted blue but I have a deep navy blue GX460 & one dark, one light is easy.
Used to my white with black trim 2021 IS350 & it’s super easy. Will do!

Much like my Ultrasonic Blue 2013 IS350 F-Sport and my NJ dealer friends just got another Apex Blue/Red MDX A-Spec in I considered also, ha.
Found a few other S’s in blue nationwide but for $5-10k over sticker, unlike what I’m paying for the white, it wasn’t worth it😅

Love the look. Just know I’d kick them getting in, and the cleaner splash guards only look will be fine. Love that BLUE!

Also, mark up isn’t acceptable so I’d take the white too in that case. I’m fortunate that I ordered my Type S with my preferred dealer and they didn’t charge me a penny over MSRP. I was able to order the blue with red I wanted. The only issue is that I couldn’t get the performance tires so I took the stock wheels. I’ve since swapped the rims for the Y-Spoke but I’m keeping the all seasons as they do a damn good job as a daily driver.

Very nice looking. Think that Blue & the pure Red are the TL's best colors. They also have a Gray that I would buy.

It was tinted all around & Xpel wrapped right after delivery also. Love it. Drove it cross country back to CO, and it has 2500 miles now. Beast.
I'll have to post an update and new photos soon.
Couple weeks ago…rolling back into CO from NJ, 2100 miles later…
And then this week…

Had them installed before delivery, and love them. Cleaner look than the skirts, and I already kick the side sill getting in so no thanks.

I prefer my side skirts and rear under spoilers. My car came with mud guards also but they weren’t installed so I sold them on eBay. The side skirts give it a more completed aggressive look. But personal preference I guess.
I also got all dark chrome emblems, Carbon interior trim and illuminated door sills.

Fun car. Ordered Vredestein all season tires too, and had the dealer swap them out before I took delivery, so I'm set there too.
Truly an enjoyable car, and SOOO much more car than the new 2021 Lexus IS350 F-Sport AWD I had for 2.5 months before it, hard to believe.
Fully tinted & front Xpel wrapped. Fun cross country drive. I'm 30 days & 2500 miles in. Been in for service locally (great dealer) last week as the puddle light died (they replaced both and asked me if mine stopped working yet before I could even mention it), the B pillar started to buzz & rattle by the time I got to Kansas (they fixed it, found that a clip wasn't seated), the CarPlay kept glitching out and this system clearly is very, very slow (so they did a hard reset, and it still bugs out once in a while) but sounds incredible. Common front end moaning sound all of these seem to have when cold & turning, but per Acura, there's no TSB yet and nothing looks amiss, so just keep an eye on it.
Love it. Sounds like a beast. Pulls like a beast. Has SOO much more front seat room, and a much more comfortable cabin than my IS. Really enjoyable. Averaged 25 mpg roughly cruising cross country, and the turbo 3.0 & 10 speed are lovely. Great car.

I bought a new 2022 Wagoneer too, 4 days later, so it's a fun combo to have side by side. Gigantic Hemi with air ride, and this svelte turbo surging crisp beast car. Love the SH-AWD pull, and again, for $3k more sticker to sticker than my IS350, ZERO comparison. So glad I didn't keep waiting around to get the IS500. V8 or not, just not in the same league of driving comfort & feel.
And, thankfully, my Acura dealer in Colorado is fantastic so it wasn’t a hard pill to swallow moving from my Lexus bougie dealer experiences.

All personal preference, and I far prefer mine as is. Sounds good. I didn't want a ground effects kit, and love how mine looks.

I love mine also. I only have 700 miles. Got the same exact color and wheels as u but just all black interior. And I got another set of y spoke wheels and I’ll have 2 sets. I’m in the Midwest and we do get snow but u guys in Colorado get hit hard. Those snow tires paired with awd it’ll be no problem.

dude those are the same tires I’m ordering. I did so much research and vs the Pirelli. The ones we getting have way better reviews and cheaper.

The Vredesteins are terrific, and for $182 a piece and better reviews than far more costly Michelin, Contentinental, etc. good to go. Balanced perfectly and rides dead smooth too.

It rarely snows in Denver, that's just the mountains to the west, and is super warm. But summer Pirelli's no, I'm good. I didn't want to even have "uh oh can't get home" surprises if taking this beast to the mountains in the winter, or it randomly snowing in town.

wow sick, I ordered the full blown winter ones as I plan on having two sets of wheels. Mine were $256 each so you must have gotten the all season ones.

The spare tire thing is something I have worked with just recently on my newly bought '22 RDX A-Spec/Adv. The Part # for the "Spare Tire Kits" are "not available

the "tool kit" soon. It's all too easy, and not worth paying to have it done, IF you have some tools and are mechanically inclined. There is also "Install Docs" for it by
Acura.

To each their own, but I would actually say the OEM skirts are actually cleaner looking than the splash guards. Why? The splash guards are tacked on and interrupt the sculpting, while the side skirts are not tacked on but instead replace the entire rocker panel. IMO the side skirt upgrade should've been standard on the Type S like they are on the Audi RS models.

Think the full aero parts package, splitter, side skirts, diffuser, should be a standard part of the "S" package & leave the spoiler as an option. Body shape looks like it was designed with them in place. Most product line top end or near top end performance styled cars have them.
In my case the option was to change the standard aero units for carbon fiber versions. Was a near $5,000 option. Might at some point get them CF wrapped, like the look better than my piano black units, but $5,000 for the OEM cosmetic items seemed just a wee bit steep.
The CF interior price was a lot more tolerable @ $950.

the "tool kit" soon. It's all too easy, and not worth paying to have it done, IF you have some tools and are mechanically inclined. There is also "Install Docs" for it by
Acura.
Not a black wheel fan either, but these gunmetal gray Y spokes are fantastic. Fresh photo from a few hours ago in Golden, CO:
Parts guy gave me a quote on all the spare tire kit parts, but haven’t ordered yet. Likely but we’ll see.
Since I have both this and the Wagoneer, I have options. MDX Type-S Advance order included that I really don’t need & need to back out of soon…I think👀😅

Already go here, and they’ve fixed a few things for me so far. Great place✅

just think of how the tlx type s would look never to the mdx type s, I have a strong feeling you'll trade in the wagon and get the mdx once its available.

We'll see. Going to cross country roadtrip & back the Wag, and keep going. The TLX was fun yesterday roaring up a mountain road in CO, of course. The 3.0T is effortless in high elevation, unlike my IS350 before, for sure.

the color. I'm sure it will look great.
Many on here were like me, wanting the spare tire kit, and found the part # for the entire kit wasn't avail. now. So, the "piece meal" approach worked and will work, as long as
the parts remain available. Sean Wardrope has been my main Mgr. there for yrs. I'm never obligated to buy an ordered vehicle. Esp. during these times with terrible inventory
and builds from the manufacturers.....he knows there is someone else waiting for the same veh. and it will sell quick.

Congrats! I'm still waiting for my Type S to arrive myself, ordered in November and was told production starts in January.
To each their own, but I would actually say the OEM skirts are actually cleaner looking than the splash guards. Why? The splash guards are tacked on and interrupt the sculpting, while the side skirts are not tacked on but instead replace the entire rocker panel. IMO the side skirt upgrade should've been standard on the Type S like they are on the Audi RS models.

function is to protect the areas behind due to tire debris kicked up. The side skirt is for looks for the most part, IF a person truly likes them. Options are nice to have on which way to go.

I have the white mud guards for sale if anyone is interested. $80 shipped. I ordered them by accident when I didn't realize at the time they could not be installed with the side skirts.
